‘STAR WARS’ MOVIES STILL IN DEVELOPMENT

quote:

Star Wars: Episode IX
Set sometime after The Last Jedi, Episode IX will follow Finn and Rey, presumably as they work to rebuild the Resistance against a First Order united under the control of Kylo Ren. While filming has yet to begin, it’s widely rumored Billy Dee Williams will return as Lando Calrissian.

quote:

Rian Johnson Star Wars Trilogy
The Last Jedi director is working on his own Star Wars sequel. All that’s known about this one is that it will explore new characters and new settings, expanding the Star Wars universe beyond the claustrophobic bounds of the other films in the franchise.

quote:

Series from Game of Thrones Creators
This is another big question mark. According to Lucasfilm, the new series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss “will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson.”

quote:

Star Wars: Episode X, XI, XII
According to Collider, part of the Lucasfilm plan to shelve the Star Wars Story series was to focus on developing plans for the Skywalker saga after Episode IX, specifically “the next trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode X, XI and XII may be a long way off, but Lucasfilm is already laying the groundwork. Even with the reported cancellations, there’s a lot of Star Wars ahead.

Hell, I wouldn't object if JJ Abrams re-made episode 8.

He didn't exactly do a great job with episode 7 so would not be excited about that. Just get episode 9 out and then move on and actually take the time develop a fresh and compelling storyline for the next series / installment.

The only "Skywalker" left is Emo Ren and he's apparently crushed the rebellion, and the republic apparently never came back in the 30 years after RoJ, so I'm not sure why they're calling it a "Skywalker saga."

Disappointing.

The two standalone films are their best efforts.

WTF is Disney doing? The standalones were the best things they had going. The "main timeline" movies are now complete and utter dogshit due to Rian Johnson and nobody gives a frick about the characters.

Fans boycotted the wrong movie.

I really wanted a sequel to Rogue One. I'm a causal Star Wars fan, but was very entertained by Rogue One

So what? That doesn't mean it was the right one to boycott.

Disney doesn't think it's their problem that fans didn't like The Last Jedi. Boycotting one of the best movies they put out had fairly predictable results. Now they're convinced that it's just the white male characters that people don't like.

I loved Rogue One.

I thought TFA was fine, not great. It laid groundwork for a good story going forward, and didn't totally shite on the OG's.

TLJ however, did come along and make TFA look shittier due to the direction it went. I didn't totally hate TLJ at first, only a few scenes, but now that it has marinated a bit, I hate it so much for what its done.

I will probably still see Ep 9, hoping that they have seen the error of their ways and can do some brilliant course changing to save this whole deal.

Precisely. The standalones are easily the best things they've done since taking over.

These freaking morons coundn't be more clueless. How do they get to the point where they're running a studio? The standalone movies are the best things they've done. They're killing fan interest with the main saga.

It's hard to watch the very end of TFA now just knowing what Luke is about to do with the light saber.
