Those movies are part of production company wars that battle over a script and the loser goes out and produces one nearly identical at the same time.

Seems pretty copycattish

Jaws vs. Orca.

Jaws is in the conversation for greatest film of all time, but I like Orca too.

Gumball Rally vs. Cannonball Run

Easily Gumball, but I'm a car guy so the sounds are intoxicating at times.

*Did not expect a thread here to start off with Gumball Rally. Has to be a cult film at this point. A rather small cult.

Top Gun and Days of Thunder are the same movie. Prefer Top Gun by a bit.

I stumbled across the full movie on YouTube the other day and couldn't resist. I remember watching this film when it first came out and have loved it ever since. It got me thinking about how the CB run was a copycat and it inspired me to create this thread.

It's available on Prime. I bought it several years ago and am watching it now thanks to being reminded of it.

I guess Top Gun is better than Iron Eagle, even though I have a soft spot for IE.

Depending on what age you were IE was the better flic.

Come to think of it, Smokey and the Bandit could be considered a copycat to the Gumball Rally. Cross country race with a goofy, obsessed cop chasing them like the coyote and the Road Runner

Rob Roy > Braveheart

For as good as Braveheart is, Rob Roy is better, and has some of the best dialogue of any movie that I have ever seen.

2 different movies about 2 very different people

If we are accepting this, then Highlander>>>>Outlaw King

Trainspotting>>>>Rob Roy

Original: The Fast and the Furious

Copycat: The Fast and thr Fierce

While the copycat had some fun, it doesn't hold a candle to TFATF.
