I have only seen a couple of the Star Wars movies and its been quite a long time since then. Planning on watching them all soon and not sure if I should start with Episode 1 and follow the chronological order or go by the Theatrical release order.

Thoughts?

4-6 first and then don't watch 1-3 because they suck.

Most will say 4-6 skip 1-3.

I would roll 1-6. If you aren't invested in the original series, I don't think you will hate 1-3 like most people on here.

first time through I would say 4-6 than 1-3. Find a pre redone #6 the change at the end was so stupid.

This. I enjoy the Star Wars films but I don't have an affinity to them like their super fans do so 1-3 never really bothered me as much as it does some people.

Sometimes I thought it'd be cool to be able to go back and watch 1-6 in order without having seen 4-6 first.

Of course, simply because of real life technological improvements watching 4-6 last may make the films feel "slower"

I was just going to post this exact thing.

Seriously, I don't think I've ever re-watched any of 1-3 after first seeing them other than maybe a minute or two here or there. And I really have no desire to. I've watched 4-6 numerous times though and still enjoy them.

4-6 then 1-3

The prequels are terrible, but they aren't as bad as people say they are. Well. They kind of are. But you should watch them once. They have some solid moments.

Whatever you do, make sure you watch the original as released in theatres cuts of 4-6

4-6. The end.

Watch 1-3 after that if you feel you must and have curiosity.

Machete Order. 4-5-2-3-6. Watch 1 if you want but view it as its own stand-alone piece like the Clone Wars cartoon series.

Don't forget Belated Media's re-imagining of the prequels... Especially if he ever does III.

I've never heard of those. Yeah, that story he came up with would have been way better.

I like the idea of Dooku being the leader of the Separatists as a way to oppose Palpatine.

Am I the only one who thought Return of the Jedi was terrible? fricking Ewoks ruined the movie for me. Revenge of the Sith was a much better film. Actually, Lucas probably should have just condensed the entire prequel trilogy into one long film. Spend the first 60 minutes chronicling Anakin's beginnings and rise to power while introducing Obi-Wan and the rest of the characters and then the last 120 minutes should be devoted entirely to the Revenge of the Sith storyline. It would have been great if done right plus a ton of people would still be pumped up about the upcoming new films. Making nine films is just overkill at this point.
