What a piece of shite. This is an Antifa fantasy wet dream of a movie.
It's a movie. It's made up. Fiction.
Would you like me to list the movies where the main character is a piece of shite and the movie is designed to make you take his side?

I don't care about the political stuff, you get numb to it these days. But this worries me more. That's not good at all. He's anti-mainstream. The Master is a fever dream that no one in the theater understood.

I won't see this movie because Sean Penn has said numerous times that he does not want people like me to watch his films.
Would you boycott Walmart if Penn told you to shop elsewhere?
It's not his film. He was paid and his check isn't dependent on if you watch or not.

Of course not. I’m not some soft weak-minded fool. Now, if Penn suddenly became a paid voice representing Walmart and continued his anti-conservative rhetoric, then yeah, I’d be less inclined to help make him successful as a Walmart pitch man. As it is, he is a leading name in this film, he has repeatedly and purposefully offended my values. Why the frick would I want to return his disdain for me with support for his livelihood?
His check is not dependent on my watching it, true.
It is also true, that if more people held steady, and quit watching the films which employ Penn, Dinero, and a whole host of other holier-than-thou leftist propagandists, Hollywood might be less inclined to include them in future projects. Or, at the least those future voices may be less inclined to spew their hatred for me.
I prefer to be entertained without the ridicule.
I guess I’m just fickle like that.

Yes, I love PT’s movies. It was the only reason I gave this a shot. It’s a bummer to see someone of such talent use it to create revolutionary propagandist trash. This film will be the banner song of the march toward more incendiary action and it’s a shame, it really is. Again, Goebbles could only dream of such a picture. And it will be lauded by the Academy further deepening the divide between law abiding citizens and political extremists.
The end message is clear, upgrade previous action with a new crop raised and bound by blood. For a film to worship human trafficking, murder and bombings to not even show the other side of the coin is beyond the pale.
In the film, they don’t even cover their faces as they rob banks, proudly sharing why they are triumphantly “sticking it to the man” and mentioning sanctuary cities as refuges for human trafficking. The revolving door of justice emboldens these actions.
The finale takes place at a Catholic mission hinting at the organization and coordination by the Catholic Church and its charities to foster this behavior. But instead of showing it in all its disturbing truths, you are instead meant to weep for them as justice finally slams its door on their shite filled faces. The crocodile tears shed while folks are raped and murdered by way of their militant action.
PT made a film beautifully but its message is horrific.

The car scene at the end was pretty creative
Sean Penn plays a weirdo.
I lold when the girl told him “you shirt is awfully tight, are you gay?” Or similar

That was very funny and yes, the film is wonderfully directed and that is no surprise. It’s the film’s content that makes it especially horrendous. If it weren’t obvious that Hollywood has lost the culture battle then this film represents the nail in the coffin. Communism, anarchism, and revolutionary sentiment have no place in America. What once was shunned, ridiculed, black balled and railed against will now win at the academy. It’s a lament.

And when the karate teacher rescued Leo, but made sure to have a 6 pack of beer ready to drink and drive.

I thought it was fun as hell. It's not PTAs best, but its his most mainstream film. Audiences will love it. Leo and Penn were great, but Del Toro was my favorite character.
Just got out and agree with all of this. It was a wild ride in IMAX and that runtime flew by. I was a little too close to the screen for those shots of the road during that chase scene.

I went into this movie completely blind. I had never heard of it, but my 21 year old, who has great taste in movies asked me a few weeks back to go see it with him when it opened. I knew it had Leo and that was it.
Went to the Imax, and I have to say after about the first 20 minutes, I was ready to walk out and find another movie. It is uncomfortably topical (in a bad way if you are conservative) and when Sean Penn first showed up I about wanted to puke.
That being said, if you can stomach some of the stupidity of the first 1/3 of the movie (think your typical strong black women that can't do wrong), once Del Torro shows up the movie escalates and I found the cinematography and music to be excellent. The whole "white people racist" theme was very over the top, and the plot twist with Penn's character and the girl at least allowed something to come out of it.

After the first scene, she is depicted as doing almost literally everything wrong.

I'm not reading all the whatever is going on in this thread but holy shite that rocked. I love PTA and I had no idea he had some of this in his bag. The car chase scenes were incredible. The early one felt like The French Connection and the later one felt like Bullit.
I've heard people reference The Searchers which I've never seen so I'm planning on knocking it out this weekend. Can't wait to see One Battle again. Leo is great, Benecio is great curious to see the Oscar nominations but I'm assuming at least one of those 2, movie and director.

Benecio is one of my favorites. He is one of a kind. That alone has me excited. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the rest too.
