Ok, we must not have watched the same movie.

Like I said, yall are paying too much attention to genders.
And I think they made it pretty clear that Poe is going to be one of the highest ranking members in the next movie.

quote:No. the people who made this movie did when they cast the film. They’ve said as much. They made it a point to make this a feminist propaganda film and they even advertised it as such. I’m not sure why you’re trying to deny it.

There will be many more like him in the coming days, it'll be considered conservative hate speech to shite on this film

Or Poe's biggest backer being a woman
Or Rose's sister who blew up the ship

How? We aren't the ones shoehorning in certain scenes to fulfill gender quotas. We're saying NO ONE should care about genders, but Rian Johnson obviously did. We've seen this shite play out already in movies before this one.

How can we know that? I never got that impression.

Its the same thing that was played out for the all-female 2016ghostbusters.
Anyone who criticizes the decision to force-feed female roles down our throats was automatically without question a "racist/sexist/misogynist/xenophobe".
This is the shield people use.

Not sure why that's relevant though.

What was the purpose of her character?

That is such a shite explanation that I know even you don't buy it
"Depth"
Lol. Rich people are bad! What a novel theme

Movie would have been much better cutting that entire subplot out.

I dont recall her being portrayed as a big "techie" person, especially when you consider her entire presence on the screen was rooted in her find a hacker. Why not just make her the hacker?
quote:
Seemed to be familiar with casino planet and the types of people that inhabited it.
Only familiar enough to give us the "white evil rich capitalists!" and animal cruelty story line, but not familiar enough to make a difference in finding the hacker to accomplish their task.
Then as it turns out the hacker shite never even mattered to begin with.

I wasn't a fan of her character, but she provided some depth of life for regular people under the First Order.
As stated above, everything she said was about evil rich capitalists, and animal cruelty. She was the core of the politics involved in this movie.

It had zero importance to the overall end game
It was a nice device for Rian to get more screen time for his diverse characters, though

Sure there may be an agenda, but the driving agenda is more Money rather than social content.
Think NFL, pink month, and safe rule changes.
NFL said "we have all the fans we can get with our current content, what changes can we implement to bring in new viewers".
Star Wars is the same with the new run of female heroes Jyn, Rey, Rose, Phasma, Holdo.etc.
They take for granted the following that kept the franchise running outside of 3 movies, just like the NFL takes for granted the people who watch weeks 1-17 religiously when deciding whom to market as the halftime show entertainment. I.e.do guys who watch all four quarters of their 2-12 team fall to 2-13.....really want to see Madonna, Bruno Mars, or Beyonce?
It's more the fault of male predictability/brand loyalty than it is agenda. The new group of unloyal hipster males are only like 10-15% of men. They will try a different beer every time, while most men will drink the same 1-3 brands without having to be marketed to to do so.
The core reason why everything is being tailored to women and non-loyal males is because that group now represents a majority of money spent.
Boys will still watch and want toys, single mothers will more likely take their daughters and sell them toys, & hipster males will sing its praises because women don't like "negativity"(everything is "amazing").
So as much as you people bitch and moan, this is what all you brand loyal males will do no matter what kind of frick up happens to your brand:
Example:
Pepsi Clear
New Coke
McLean
Budweiser retro can
NFL pink month, female ref, female coach, female kicker
Episode IX: Waring with the STARS!

He called off the race to the big gun, realized Luke's plan was to give them time to escape, led the group to the escape route, Leia deferred some of the decisions to him at the end, etc.
How can we know that? I never got that impression.
