Is the Ultimate Cut of BvS worth watching? I’d love to like it, but what I saw in the theater was awful.

Absolutely worth the watch. The additional time explains plot points hurt by editing.

I’m one of the few I suppose who loved MOS and BvS. What I didn’t like about BvS were the Africa scenes and Lex, really. The fight between Batman and Superman was amazing though, and the physicality Batman brought is unmatched in his cinematic history IMO

Are they going to actually finish all of the effect shots, or am I going to be looking at tennis balls and ping pong balls glued to bodysuits?

That Batman warehouse fight was the greatest Batman fight ever put to film.

Just read this...Looks like they are going all out...

"I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality,” Snyder said in a statement alongside the announcement.

According to THR, it's still unclear if the Snyder Cut will be released in episodic chapters or as a full director's cut, but the Snyders are reportedly currently "reassembling much of their original postproduction crew to score, cut, add new and finish old visual effects, and, yes, maybe bring back many of the actors to record additional dialogue."

So that also indicates the music will be different as well and Elfman's score will be jettisoned.

I really hope it isn't episodic. And if it is, I hope they release an non-episodic version on Blu ray.

It may still be bad, but it still has my attention and will get a viewing from me. Let’s be real that’s the only thing that matters to them

I'm optimistic. The extended cut of BvS is much better than the theatrical cut.

My body is ready.

I’m in the minority, but I’m a big fan of Snyder’s DC universe.

So what will happen if this one still sucks?

There’s no if about it. Snyder is arse as a director. Even his “crown jewel” Watchmen is terribly overrated.

Objectively, it still will suck. People on this board will pretend it doesn't though.

Lmao, this board shits on Snyder and DC at every turn.

how unprecedented is this in terms of big box office movies? two versions of the same movie years apart?

Off the top of my head it kind of sort of happened with Daredevil and Kingdom of Heaven when they were released to DVD.

Of course, it was a little different b/c the directors weren't fully replaced but the theatrical versions of those two are fairly different and much much weaker than the director's cuts. Those were just more the studios meddling and making the movies shorter, forcing love story aspects, and dumbing them down by cutting out character motivations and extra plot elements.

Also, Alien 3 Assembly Cut is a muuuuch better version of that movie though it's technically not a directors cut.

Donner's version of Superman II was released 26 years after the Lester edit of his film was released in theaters.

Spartacus and Lawrence of Arabia had director's cut releases decades after their releases, but the result wasn't a different film as with Donner's Superman II.

I still don’t get why this gets the attention that it does. The theme of B v S is that Bruce has lost his humanity.

This is the moment where he regains his humanity because he realizes he has become what made him into Batman.

Also, it’s Lois that stops him.
