Hi friends! I have followed The Walking Dead for years now and have a vast knowledge of the comic timeline and series of events that transpire throughout this amazing series.

I do not want to ruin the story for anyone who is just becoming familiar with the show. I have created this thread to answer any questions regarding TWD characters and plot lines if anyone is interested. We can also chat about what is going on in the show and how it relates to the comic.

Also, I'm sure there are many on here who have read the comics and could also help with any questions.

Again, I am sorry if I accidentally gave away information to someone who was not seeking it

I haven't read an issue since the one where after they had teamed up with that other group and Rick, Carl and that huge guy went to get stuff from his old police station. I think they picked up that black guy from the first issue and escaped the zombie hoard.

how far behind am I? I'd like to puck it up again.

I'd say you might be 10-12 issues back. A lot has gone down since they returned from the police station with a very run down Morgan

Thanks for the thread Zombie!

I'm wondering if they're going to push up the appearance of The Governors storyline. And most importantly, will Danny Trejo take the role as only he can?

There are so many storylines for them to follow. As a fan I hope they don't take anything out. They still need to find the prison and live there for a while.

And Danny Trejo would be epic.

SPOILER ALERT (in a spoiler thread but it's a big spoiler)

I wonder if Rick will lose his hand in the show. Kirkman said this is something he regrets doing in the comic.

I thought about this too! I want them to do it but I can totally see this happening to a lesser character now. It needs to happen to show that someone scratched or bitten can still be saved.

The prison portion of the show will be a whole season by itself I would think. Holy shite how crazy is that going to be?

I'm going to enjoy reading peoples reactions on here as this show moves forward. I knew from the first word that AMC greenlit it, that this show would be a hit.

So Merle loses his hand last night. I'm thinking there's no way Rick cuts his off now unless Merle dies off soon which I doubt.

Bumping this for comic discussion.

Yeah, I'd say there is a good chance Rick doesn't get's his hand cut off. Still, that would probably be somewhere in season 3 so it may be far enough away. Rick needs to get himself a hatchet.

Of the character's introduced in the show that were not in the comic, Merle and Daryl are easily my favorite. It's fun not knowing if every character is going to live or die.

Speaking of, Amy's death felt much more traumatic on screen than in the comic sense she was actually getting some screen time. Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet Tyrese, Michone, and Axel next season

(From the main thread)

Kirkman (writer and creator) has said we will never see zombie animals on many occasions. I know the show will be different than the comic, but it won't be that different.

I don't know. I know Kirkman kind of regretted doing it in the comic. I would think he won't for the tv series, but at the same time I could also see him doing it. Merle losing his hand coul have been forshadowing of Rick losing his.

Merle and Daryl are cool, but I would have to believe they will bite it by the end of this season. We know the main group already. Also I think Shane will make his exit as well in the last episode (which sucks cuz I like the guy who plays Shane)

Amy's death was so much more tramatic than in the comic. In the comic she came off as an immature brat. The actress playing Andrea did a good job of playing the grief stricken sister. The zombie attack scene was epic as well. I cant wait to meet the new characters. Still have to see Hershel and his group, Dexter, Thomas, Axel, etc. Prison series will be greatness.

Hopefully the series will last long enough for us to get to Abraham. The scene with him, Rick, and Carl on the road after they run into those rapists would be awesome to see on screen.

a) why do they sometimes refer to the zombies as "geeks"? I never really got that

b) is it every explained how it all started?

a) They never refer to them as geeks in the comic, only the tv show. Personally I hate it and think it sounds stupid. I also hate when people call them Zeds. Walkers is ok. I'm weird like that

b) It is never explained in the comic how it started and I doubt it would be. I think the reason is an explanation wouldn't please everyone, so just let the reader decide how they think it started.

Since Cocomo has exiled me to this thread, I'll say I'm on issue 17...the prison...will...be...epic. If they cut that out, I'll be severely... severely... severely disappointed.

The Willshire Estates I really don't give a crap about...probably will be cut from the TV show since they wrote out Allen and Donna it seems. Kind of disappointed in that...also, they are making Shane an actual cast member. That guy was dead by book 8, only other time he appears is when Rick goes back to kill him again.

Which is another point, the comic infers up to my reading that everyone will come back as Zombies after they die, regardless if they are bitten or not. Think that is a weird grey area they haven't scratched or chose not to introduce yet. It's a weird dynamic I'm not sure how they would address it in the show.

The cast is still strange to me, not to reiterate...Wikipedia has Daryl and Merle listed as a recurring cast member...makes me think Merle will never be brought back and Daryl's death is imminent next season.

I hope they didn't substitute Tyrese for Shane...I hope they kill that dude off quick like they did in the comics. Though I can't see them letting the Kid cap him on Television, would be a severe backlash I suppose. Some things are only meant for the comics.

Can we post fricking spoilers in this thread? Maybe we should have a thread for everyone who is up to date on the comics? Anybody have a link to issues 79 and 80?

BTW, for anyone that is interested (from my previous post):

There is a great site for dling the comics without using torrents for anyone that is interested. However, I'm not sure I can post it.

Google: "ongoing update walking dead" and use the 4th link. Takes a while using the free sites but they work.

What I'm really wondering is how they will deal with Lori in the tv series. For anyone that is past that point in the comics, it will be interesting to see what happens. Also, Carl needs to toughen up. A major issue in the comics is how fast this kid has had to grow up under the circumstances. There are a few scenes that I will be amazed if they make it into the tv series but are vital to Carl's character.
