1st season was great. I thought the 2nd season was ok. The third season I thought was a bit ridiculous. It got to the point where his antics just got old.

I agree with this. I'm a big fan of improv and this season had a good bit of it. I can see how it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea though.
I thought it would've been funnier if he died but then we wouldn't gotten that last line from April

when April said you couldn't just stay in the majors and me and Toby could come live with you.
fricking dumbass Kenny. True to character though.
ETA: I see some have posted that they left it open for it to go on. First off, it's not going on. McBride has said as much. Second, they've wrapped up every possible storyline of the show. It's over. As it should be.

Season 1 was great. Season 2 was still funny as hell. Season 3 is when it went downhill, not "up a notch". Season 3 was by far the worst one IMO.
And for those still wondering, there won't be a 4th season. Danny McBride said as much on Jimmy Kimmel last week.

Maybe not season 4. But they could do a movie if they wanted. Movie would probably suck like season 3, so best to just leave it alone.

What would the movie be about?
The driving force/concept of the entire show was Kenny Powers climbing his way back to the top.
He achieved that last night.

CAUTION: THERE BE SPOILERS IN AHEAD!
I disagree. Season 2 was not halfway on the level of this one. It felt cobbled together, and it reeked of HBO and outside influence. This was alluded to in Episode 2 in his exchange with Stevie. He says "I'm the one who said that nobody wants to see a goddamn tale set in Mexico, okay? I said we gotta go super heavy on the Remo Williams adventure shite. You're the one who said we had to go heavy on the depression self help shite." to which Stevie responds, "You're a writer, I'm not a writer. I should have taken your note." Now, I'm no expert at the critical analysis of anything, but to me that was a shot at the second season, which I found to be disappointing. It had hilarious moments, but overall, it didn't fit in to me. Even with the father shite, it wasn't really as intriguing or funny. Season 1 may be one of my favorite seasons of any series, but for me, Season 3 rivals it. A lot of complaints stem from how emotional this season "tried to be", but I feel like if you think that's any new development outside of the first 20 minutes of the entire series, you missed one of the gems and pulls of the series and one of the reasons I loved it so much. The entire series from the first episode to the last shows Kenny's emotional struggles with all of this. I enjoy the fact that in between "I'm gonna have to change my pants. I'm just kidding. I didn't cum in my pants!" and "How much money are you gonna give me if I slam dunk this?", there's a deeper message. Don't mind the cliché, cheesy overdramatic points that I'm giving right now, though, because I'm a bit jazzed up having just seen the finale.
That said, this season was great for a few reasons. First of all, Kenny's antics get worse, this is true, and honestly, I thought it was a genius way to show him fighting with what he already knows. He knows that his happiness is with April and Toby, and he knows that going to the majors isn't really what he wants. He also knows that his days of being Kenny fricking Powers end with that, and he is afraid of that. One of the best parts of the entire series was seeing him, in his own fricked up way, become a loving father to Toby. He'll never be Cliff Huxtable with the greatest collection of both sweaters and life lessons to give that the world has ever seen. His realization that he loves Toby is endearing because of his lack of care for anything outside of himself and, for the most part, April. That's just me, though. I also thought that the funeral scene was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
Onward to the last episode. My opinion on the episode? Brilliant. It was a great way to end the series. They had me choked up inside on some man shite there for a bit at two different parts. The first part was Kenny showing real emotion for the first time in the entire series with his goodbye to Toby, and then I was in a WTF/Stomach feels weird situation when I thought he was fricking out. As for that scene, I honestly had so many thoughts going through my mind. My first thought was "What the frick, HBO? Do you mandate that you kill all of your main characters to end a series?" Next, I thought they'd made a brilliant choice, even if I disliked it. In my head, Kenny knew that he couldn't change and that with a successful career again, he would toss aside everything he gained over his time out of the majors and become the same old shite head, letting everyone down again. To prevent this, he would go out on top with everyone chanting his name. Of course, he loves himself way too damned much to ever to kill himself so I wasn't shocked to see the ending. Either way, I thought it was a strong ending to a great series. I would rather them leave it this way, and hopefully, they don't get the Arrested Development treatment and make a movie for no reason later. I just have to say that I'm glad I didn't miss out on this series. 21 episodes is extremely short, and it'd be easy to have it slip by. By far, this has to be the most quotable and consistently laugh out loud funny shows I've seen. Then again, I have a fricked up sense of humor. Who knows.
TL;DR: Loved the series, thought season 2 was weaksauce, loved the finale. Glad to have enjoyed it and see Kenny Powers make the transformation from shithead to slightly less of a shithead.

Well color me disappointed. I for one would have liked to have seen at least a couple episodes with him on top and actually in the MLB.
I guess the way it ended makes the most sense for the series but I still would have liked to have actually seen him playing MLB.

Is there a link to where I could watch that episode online? I tried YouTube but nothing is up yet.

This is the same way I feel about it. I'll always go around quoting this show. I think they can still market Kenny (ex. The k swiss commercials) & do like little short vids like that. Long live KP.

Yeah, I loved S3 (though I still think 1 was better). The ending was absurd but I hope they come back for a 4th season at least.

They got away from what made the show funny, which was Kenny's inability or unwillingness to adapt to regular society after being in the MLB. They turned the show toqwards him trying to find himself, which sucked. Season 3 returned to this form in that it showed his shrortcomings of being a father. Season 1 will always be epic.
