Oh, that was to be expected. The film will be a tremendous success regardless. I don't care about anything other than batman got a complete trilogy, a defining story and three good films

Anyone else get a little aggravated that this unknown "Blake" guy was basically just a plot mechanism?
I get the idea- he's symbolic of the hope Batman instilled in the earlier films, and he still believes in Batman when even Bruce no longer does. And in the end, his faith is rewarded by getting to be the next Batman for Gotham.
But it was almost laughable at times. "I saw your eyes when you showed up at the orphanage... you're Batman". That part set the movie back a bit for me. And then, basically any time they need to move the story, Blake is the mechanism. Need a ride, Bruce? Need some info and food, guys in the sewer? Need some rescuing in the hospital, Gordon? Well, no, Gordon doesn't need help (and that part was cool).
While a lot of people liked the whole Blake arc, he wasn't the guy I went to see this movie for. I would have liked it better to have our core characters doing more, although then Blake isn't the new hero at the end. So I guess, there's a whole major part of the storyline I was put off by.
Also agree with the other poster who wanted to see Selena take out Talia, and Batman take out Bane. The better (in my own little opinion here) endgame is Batman takes Bane in a final epic brawl, wasting precious time. Bane, maskless, sneers "and you're too late to stop her now" with his final breath, and Bats knows this as he fruitlessly takes off in the Bat-plane-chopper, sees the truck heading for a tunnel or something, out of range.
Selena does the Han Solo out-of-the-sun thing on the bike, and blows the truck off the road at the last second, - say it kills Talia in the cab as the truck rams a wall head-on. Gordon hops out of the back as the Batplane lands, and ... get your kiss, take the bomb out to sea, movie ends as it does.
Just my thoughts.

I guess I missed something.
When Fox asked BW if he remembered where he parked the bat, the whole theater laughed. I didn't get it. He flew it on top of the building right??? What's funny??

I thought ras booted him because he was such a monster, basically pure evil. Not because he was ugly, maybe I'm wrong

also to the person who said there were easier ways to obtain a nuke...the whole thing was done to punish bruce wayne for betraying them and get revenge. The goal wasn't really about cleaning Gothan anymore. It seemed like a pure revenge mission.
so taking all of his money was a part of that.

It was clearly stated that Ra's rescued Bane and trained him. He just couldn't stand the sight of him anymore or something and kicked him out of the League eventually.
After his face got disfigured/had to wear the mask.

He is going to be the future Batman for Gotham (hopefully not in any movies I swear to god if they try to add on to this series I'm going to kill a puppy in front of a 4 year old), but in this movie all of the things he did was a typical Robin character. Batmans assistant. Blake acted as a Robin the whole movie but just in a cop uniform and going by Blake. For some reason I'm not typing what is in my head right. What I said just sounds confusing.

No that makes complete sense. He's Robin in his actions but not appearance.

thank you. your idea for the end is way better than what they actuallly did in it.

A packed theatre will literally laugh at anything. Yeah, that scene wasn't funny.

I think Nolan did that on purpose. He wasn't the biggest fan of Robin but he gave a shout out to the fans with that ending. And as for giving Robin one of his more legit names, very few in the general movie-going public know what Robin's real name is. If he called himself Dick Grayson at the end, the comic book fans would cheer but the rest of the audience would be confused.

I thought that was one of Robins names in the comic. No basis for that I just figured it was.

Pre-preface: I loved The Dark Knight [TDK], and enjoyed Begins. Re-watched Begins over the weekend, and now, I think I might like Begins more than TDK, as TDK gets too cubersome in the third act... however, the first 2/3's of TDK are awesome.
Preface: This will be a negative review. Like TDK, The Dark Knight Rises falls apart as the finale and third act.
Surprises: Hathaway as Selina Kyle. She stole the show, and this film could have been called Catwoman Rises.
Confirmed: JGL is not as good of an actor as this board makes him out to be. :flamesuiton:
Pros: The very end, as in the last 2-3 minutes "very end." Too bad it took 2 hours and 42 minutes to get there.
Cons:
Again, another Batman movie that doesn't feature, "The Batman" [really should drop the "The"; see: "The Facebook"]. I held out hoping that it would turn around, like Begins [where The Batman doesn't show up until an hour into the movie]; however, it just never happened for me. It dragged, it stalled, it puttered, and it finally ended.
^ This probably summarizes my previous concern.
Bane's voice. [wasn't discernible during much of the film]
That "fact" that Bat's is on a "suicide mission" being beat over our heads.
Again, a Batman movie, where the best points are not Batman. Begins, Bruce becoming Batman. Dark Knight, the Joker steals the show. Rises, I'm not sure, some combination of Catwoman and Blake. If anything, Begins, where it takes an hour for Batman to get to screen, is arguably the only movie where Batman has the best scenes/ carries the movie.
Snooozefest [yes, with three o's]. I probably checked my watch three times during this movie. Hate my opinion if you want [I'm sure some will], but I thought it was boring and dragged, often.
The witty quips in this movie just were not on the level of the previous films. The Batman: "I'll let you die when you give me the trigger..." ZING!
Tried too hard to tie this to the first movie. The first two films had a natural flow to them. Something about this one was off. I think this speaks mostly to Blake's Character.
Bruce, a cripple with no cartilage in any joint and a jacked up back [thank god it was an over the head, over the knee drop; they got that part right]... magically cured in prison with wet rags to suck on, a punch in the back, and some rope. Take that modern medicine.
The mega-shyamalan Talia twist. Would have been great, except for the whole movie leading up to it. It just wasn't believable. I know that is a weak cop out, but maybe, the actress just didn't fit the role. No way "Miranda" climbed out the pit.
The war at the end. The city being under siege. The federal government getting involved. The giving Gotham back to its citizens with an atomic bomb undoubtedly going off. The fact that said bomb... errr, nuclear fission reactor was going to become unstable at a precise, down to the second, time.
Close: I will watch this again, but it will be a long time. Hopefully, I will enjoy it next time, like I did with Begins. However, at this time, this installment falls well... WELL, short of its predecessors.
Begins > TDK [but pretty close to equal].....
[lots of space]
The Dark Knight Rises
I will continue to enjoy Begins and TDK, but I will probably never buy the triology.
Here is to a better, fourth installment with the new "The Batman."

I can let the Robin thing pass, but I am going to remain aggravated with how he knew Bruce was Batman. At least, that Bruce didn't initially deny it and make him work some (for our benefit, to let Blake lay out his evidence. And he had to have SOMETHING; hosting those ceremonies, Wayne reappearing when Batman popped up, ... something better than what we got).
Meanwhile, I'm now directing "my ending" in my head...
Batman watching the truck drive away as he runs for the bat; Talia smirking in the mirror a couple times; the truck closes in on entering the tunnel as Batman futilely fires (missing badly), out of range; Gordon checks the timer and slams his fists helplessly on the bomb;
and POW here comes Selena from outta nowhere to cut her off- a "not so fast, bitch" comment of some type and just blast that skank off the road.
Ah, what might have been. And we'd have gotten to see Batman whoop Bane's arse convincingly, with this scene.
Just that alone would help the film, as I'm pretty sure most fans, love the film or not, would have preferred Batman finishing of Bane himself.

I can respect that. I was able to get over it, however, by the way JGL delivered the dialogue explaining how he knew. And I think Wayne didn't deny it because he didn't really care at that point. It had been 8 years since he had last put on the cowl. That's what I like to think anyway. Plus, I think he instantly connected with Blake because he, like Wayne, was an orphan.
