This is a dark, poetic opera the likes of which has never been seen in the super hero genre. The dialogue, the cinematography and the score are characters unto themselves. If you love Batman, one should be happy with this gritty and harrowing version of the caped crusader.

I never thought I would say this, but after seeing Rotten Tomatoes, almost all of the negativity this film is receiving comes from the idea that people can only like Marvel or DC movies. Not both. Too many are falling for the negative hype. Rocket Raccoon doesn't need to drop one liners every 30 seconds for a super hero movie to be good. There's more than one way to tell a story, and we've never seen one told like this before.

I have 0 problem with the grittiness and I had similar thoughts as you, that critics simply were not liking this because it wasn't Marvel.....and then I saw it.

The movie was just an incoherent mess. I don't think them trying to set up the new universe is what made it suffer either.

I'm hoping the stand alone Batman movie is the killing joke

I'd love to see a Red Hood story on the big screen as well, although may not work because Batman no longer has a moral code.

Also the film definitely had issues but I really enjoyed the experience overall. It looked great and the fights were fantastic, while the story/narrative leaves a little to be desired.

that's pretty much why I don't really give much of a damn about a Justice League movie. Batman is far and away my favorite, but how much of a role can he have in it?

I guess he's like the kid who gets to be in the club because the clubhouse is at his house?

but the title bout had to be the most disappointing. They had shown us so much in the previews, I figured man there had to be tons we haven't seen and this would be one hell of a cool fight. Nope, if you've seen the trailers and the tv clips you saw pretty much 90% of the fight.

Completely agree. I'm more interested in seeing Afflecks solo Batman film than I am the Justice League.

I just got back from watching three superheroes fail at one liners while fighting a cave troll from Lord of the Rings.

3/10 - would not see again. That was a shitty, shitty movie.

Yeah, I'm still very excited to see this. Affleck was a fantastic choice for Batman and I can't wait to see him do the character more justice. Here's what I'd really like for the trilogy to be:

I: Under the Red Hood
II: Hush
III: Arkham City

you did see pretty much 90% of that fight from the trailers and clips, I'm not really sure how you can disagree with that.

also don't paint me a naysayer who wanted to hate this movie, quite the opposite and my post history on here reflects that.

This movie should have just been titled "Dawn of Justice" and the plot should have just focused on bringing the trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman together. There was no need for Batman and Superman to brawl in this film. They should have saved that for an Injustice-like scenario in one of the Justice League movies.

Bring the three main heroes together over some planetary threat, have them realize an even larger threat may be on the way, and then begin recruitment of the rest of the Justice League.

Don't kill off Superman, don't have the trinity fight Doomsday.

This. They could have had them be distrusting toward each other, but them brawling to the point of almost literally killing each other created so many problems for the movie. They would have been able to keep out the Knightmare sequence and that Martha shite would have never happened. It would have given them the opportunity to create more characterization for Superman and Wonder Women. Especially Superman.

You know what I mean.

I personally think it was stupid for the filmmakers to use the Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman arcs this early in the cinematic universe.

Just got back from seeing it, and the ONLY thing that mattered to me was the portrayal of Batman. IMHO, Affleck absolutely crushed it. I loved every scene with Batman in it. It was also very nice to see Frank Miller, along with Jim Lee listed in the credits.

Is this movie flawed, yup. To me the beginning up until the congressional hearing felt rushed. However, everything after that to me was excellent. You have to look at this movie for what it was deep down. A set-up for the DC Universe, and the Justice League.

He is to the JLA like Vanderbilt is to the SEC. Or does he share that distinction with Green Arrow?

If I have to "look at a movie" as anything other than a "movie" then it's a fricking YouTube video that should've been on YouTube

Solely, as piece of cinema, it failed in its most basic premise, regardless of canon or loyalty to source material. It failed artistically, it failed as a narrative.

It's not a good movie.

I thought the previews made this movie look cheesy and I was not surprised to see such low reviews. Having said that, I still went and saw it. I honestly loved the way the movie opens it up (Bruce's view of the fight) it's extremely well done in my opinion. After that, it seems like a kid with ADD just jumbled up all of the scenes of this movie. There's some ambition in this movie that just gets lost along the way. I like the grittiness and Affleck, but I forgot I was watching a superhero movie about forty five minutes in. Hopefully Snyder is kicked to the curb for the Darkseid movie. The characters are in place aside from lex. Eisenberg is the most laughably bad villain I've seen in a long, long time. He does not deserve to be in any future movie with this franchise. He was just making up words and spouting off the most random shite. Absolutely terrible. All in all, I was surprised at how dark this movie was even with some laughably bad dialogue. With some proper direction, the Justice league movie could be very good.

It didn't fail at all to those who knows, and understand the art.
