I don’t think she was the cool girl in the traditional sense at all. Sounds like she had a rough go of it in her earlier years (maybe high school). She was called Freaky Nikki at some point and it embarrassed her. They liked her as part of the group because they got to know her by working with her. And the homeless guy scene showed she had a good heart. But she obviously had some emotional issues because it’s suggested the “wish her” became an extension of Freaky Nikki.

What was going on in their first interaction after the wish where she was confusing everything like saying it was her cat that died?

Yeah I get it that I just don't really understand why at that moment the demon, or whatever it was, couldn't keep track of what was going on.

Yeah that's what i was thinking but i suck at watching movies and just trying to make sure i didn't miss some hidden meaning or anything

Didn't know if this has been shared but thought it was pretty cool.

I think the truth is the stuff Sarah told him. Nikki thought of him like a brother and she had been hooking up with Ian for a while. At the beginning she asks Ian to bring her home first if you remember. Which I thought was strange at the time since her and Bear were supposed to be such good friends.

This is the part that doesn't get brought up enough. The opening scene is Bear confessing his love to the waitress who's pretending to be Nikki. Ian rightfully tells him it's super cringe but at no point does he tell Bear he's been hooking up with her.

Another point everyone is missing, Bear isn't the bad guy because he made the wish. He didn't really believe the willow would work, and he was throwing a Hail Mary. What makes Bear the bad guy is, once realizing Nikki was trapped, not immediately doing everything in his power to save her.

The dinner scene is what does it for me, he at the very least realizes she's not mentally stable yet continues to be intimate with her. At best he's taking advantage of a woman going through a psychotic episode

How was the ending changed

My main takeaway is Bear was the villain, the entity was the victim and Nicki was caught up in the crossfire. Bear was the obsessive one, not the entity possessing Nicki. He was a squirmy little bitch before the wish, and an insufferable twat after. It was his own obsession amidst internal conflict that drove the entity to becoming a monster. The entity was merely a reflection of his weakness and inability to confront what his own desires led to. He should have owned up to what his desire turned Nicki into, but instead he was all wishy washy about what it actually entailed. Not saying she wasn’t doing freaky shite that he could simply ignore, but his inability to accept what Nicki had become and take ownership for it created a monster. That’s what caused the entity to lose control over Nicki at some points. The entity was weaker in the beginning but just needed to learn the ropes. Him being a little bitch is why Nicki was able to escape for brief moments. Had he just accepted the reality of his decision he and his friends would have all survived. His wish basically was to end Nicki’s life for his own selfish reasons…being a simp for a girl way out of his league who put him in the friend zone. Bear had no balls and the entity only wanted to fulfill his wish. He had plenty of opportunities to end it by killing her like Nicki begged of him, or offing himself like the support line instructed him to do. But, a zebra can’t change its stripes. He went out like a bitch swallowing pills instead of that revolver after causing so much pain and suffering.

All that considered, I liked the movie and would like to see this story expanded upon further.
