Nightcrawler = the new American Psycho

What a good movie. well-made in every way. The satire of the media, while a little heavy-handed towards the end, was hysterical. Gilroy said Lou represented all of the young guys now that do anything it takes to succeed, which is spot on.
plot got a little silly at the end, but that is how you shoot a movie. it viewed like a Michael Mann movie. can't wait to see what else Gilroy puts out.

I enjoyed the movie. Thought Gyllenhaal was great in it.
Don't really see the comparison between American Psycho though other than that both characters are psychopaths.

The similarities are there, I like Nightcrawler even better. Great movie, one of the best movies this decade so far.

It reminded me more of Taxi Driver than American Psycho...this very disturbed guy on the fringe of society. Plus the whole "seedy underbelly of a big city at night" thing.

I really liked Nightcrawler, Gyllenhaal was just tremendous in it. I haven't seen American Psycho but it is on Netflix instant so I'll check it out. To me Nightcrawler felt like Taxi Driver meets Network.

The set up for the scene where they were outside the diner watching the shootout tableau unfold was simply masterful in every way. The leadup was masterful as well as the pacing of the events of the shootout. I held my breath for like a minute.

It was good, but I really dont think its in the same ballpark as American Psycho, IMO.
I dont think it will be a cult classic 10 years from now much like AP is today.

Gyllenhaal should have been nominated/won.
Just when you think his character can't sink any lower, he becomes more despicable in the following scene.
ETA: It's ironic because Nina talks about how Lou inspires everyone to "aim higher"
