I see what you're saying in comparing it to American Psyscho in that both characters act like all of their knowledge is derived from a "Success 101" book, and they follow the book step by step

I thought it was pretty good.

I didn't find JG's character all that believable though. That's not to say that JG wasn't believable as the character, he did a fine job acting, its just that Lou was too over the top. I guess that is the point, but we get no back story as to why he is the way he is, not even an idea really.

Also, for him to go from thieving and selling scrap metal to becoming this insanely-motivated go-getter...hard to buy. I guess you'd argue that he had the drive all along, he just needed the right environment to really take off.

It made me feel weird and dirty after watching it, which means that it was ultimately effective. I suppose that I can admit that it was a good movie that just wasn't that enjoyable to watch, if that makes sense.

American psycho is a classic, and has a humor that night crawler doesn't.

Night crawler isn't a bad movie though.

They are certainly similar and both great movies. It's one of the best movies I've seen in a a long time.

Totally agree. Gyllenhaal is really becoming a top-rate actor.

Best movie i saw in the last 12 months. How a shite movie like Birdman got nominated and won an Oscar over this movie blows my mind.

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors in Hollywood right now. I don't care what none of y'all say.

Nightcrawler is much better. Every time Jake talks I just started laughing. He's one of my all time favorite characters.

American Psycho was just a fantastic movie and has great lines throughout. Nightcrawler was really good but I just can't put it on the same level as American Psycho. Maybe I should rewatch it.

Your sig quote kicks arse.

And as great as Nightcrawler was, the humor and nostalgia of the late 80s gives AP the edge IMO.

The Ray Bans, Huey Lewis and the News, Wall Street Glory Days, its just fantastic.

Bale and JG are both phenomenal actors. But AP had Leto and Defoe to give it the overall edge as well.

Seriously what? they are very similar. AP is better, but that doesn't change the fact that they are very similar.
