Seems too soon after the series.

1st season was great. 2nd was alright. Everything after was forgettable or bad.

Full agreement with you. I think this is a completely separate project from the show. I.e. a remake of the movie from 1973. The guy doing it is the one who wrote the scripts for several Jurassic Park movies.

I thought season 1 was fantastic. Season 2 was complete mess.

They tried to outsmart the audience but managed to outsmart themselves.

Edit:
I do like Yul Brynner, but movie wasn’t so great. It was ok for the time. I think an updated movie could do very well. I’d just completely depart from the series and make a stand alone movie. Anthony Hopkins and Ed Harris were great though.

The first season was good. It was a disaster the rest of the way.

Even season 2 was that bad of a follow up. Just kept getting worse

Season 1 of the show was so good. In my all-time top 5. Love what they did with the concept.

Just a remake of the 70’s WestWorld would most likely be boring.

Same. I'm in the small minority that liked Season 2 quite a bit as well. There were a few episodes in S2 that were as good as any in S1. But it certainly was too complicated.

I'm in the very small minority that liked the rest of the seasons as well. Really wished HBO would have let them finish the series. Just one more season. The last few seasons were some of the best looking sci-fi/futuristic looking world that has ever been done on TV. Just top tier movie level cinematography and sets. Unfortunately season 2 killed the viewership.

Hot take: Marshawn Lynch was really good in his role*.

*given my expectations of former athletes' acting abilities**.

**Excluding professional wrestlers cuz...well, obviously.

Liked Season 2, Season 3 was a good bit wonky, but Season 4 was really getting good again and then they cancelled. Sad.

Season 1 very good.

Season 2 was ok although there were three or four episodes that were really, really good.

Seasons 3 and 4 really sucked between girl terminator fights and plot lines that went no where or made no sense.

Yeah, i gave up somewhere in season 3. Such a letdown after a promising first 2 seasons.

The park was always the most intriguing part of the story and when they left they couldn't maintain the same level of story.

Season 4 was just plain nihilistic and the writing was horrible. Maeve is supposed to be the secret weapon and last for what? One or two episodes? Delores doesn't really do much. Everyone kills each other.

Totally wasted the Man in Black the last two seasons. Then there is the post season scene after season 2. Guess what was for nothing and we never got it explained.

In fairness, the movie was done on a shoestring budget.... which shows. The 'world' sets are so threadbare you can see the plywood backing in some cases

It went to hell after Anothny Hopkins got his brains blown out

Basically him and the show got splattered at the same time.
