As 'Invisible Man' resurrects a dead franchise, the studio mulls more filmmaker-centric reboots.

The latest: a new Dracula feature that Karyn Kusama (Destroyer) will direct, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Jason Blum's Blumhouse, which helped kickstart the new monster line by making Invisible Man for only $7 million, is in the midst of setting up the vampire thriller and is producing.
The project isn't housed at Universal yet, and technically, it could be made at another studio because Dracula is in the public domain. But that is highly unlikely given that Blumhouse has a first-look deal with the studio, and Universal isn't about to let one of its iconic monsters escape the fold.

I thought the last Dracula movie kickstarted the new Universal line. Then The last Mummy movie kickstarted the new Universal line.

Is this where I speculate that they'll cast a black lesbian as Dracula?

I can't keep up with all these "Universe" movies. Isn't Tom Cruise going to make a Van Helsing movie? Does that one belong to any multiverses?

I think the monsterverse could work. Not sure how they can incorporate a “team up movie”, but each movie is within the same universe. I haven’t seen the invisible man, but I heard good things about it.

The first attempt failed, mostly because of the budget and they went too big. Invisible man was a smaller budget with a good premise that did well in the box office compared to budget.

I think they need to ditch the action movies because they are already too many action franchise and cinematic universe of action. They need to have their universe based around suspense and horror elements. Don’t be scared to go rated R, it can still do well if story is there.

I enjoyed both Dracula Untold and The Mummy and refuse to see The Invisible Man because it looks absolutely terrible.

I've been waiting forever for a good modern production of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde

She's fallen off, hasn't she? I can't remember the last time I've seen her in anything.

Gee, how original. There must be well into the hundreds worth of Dracula/Vampire movies that have already been made over the years. How much more can they add to what's already out there?

I feel like they may have found their niche with The Invisible Man. More Horror, less action. Can’t wait to see what they can do with Dracula.

You incorporate all the monsters in the universe by doing a new Monster Squad movie.

Just make sure to kick Wolfman in the nards,
