It's dead. Its fricking dead and done.
They really need to focus on either a prequel in KOTOR Era or fricking throw the universe another 1000 years into the future. None of the previous characters involved unless light throwbacks or Easter eggs.

Kennedy must go but Lucas isn't the answer.

What a time to be alive! People want George Lucas back for Star Wars.

Yeah... this sounds like bullshite. KK was his hand picked successor, he was tired of doing Star Wars after the backlash from the prequels, there isn't a chance in hell they would retcon those 3 movies away anyway, and why would he even be worried about Disney making changes to the SW movies he made? Since when is there a push from anywhere or anyone to do that?
The only thing that sounds legit is him wanting complete creative control but that's something every studio head wants so I'm not sure what kind of scoop that would even be.
If, and it's a massive if, he ever went back to Lucasfilm it would be to do new projects that interested him like when he made Redtails and Strange Magic.

Did you see the numbers for the Disney trilogy? ROS literally made half what TFA did. Disney cannot let this property die.
Not to mention they'd still receive the profits if Lucas is back in the fold. It's not like they're giving it back to him for free. They bought star wars for the profit not to remove Lucas.
Star wars needs a radical shake up and not in the Rian johnson or Kathleen Kennedy way. They need to get back to their roots.

quote:to be fair..... if KK was doing her job well, Rian would have ether been pull from the movie very early in the pre production, or would have been whipped into shape to not literally reshape the starwars universe to fit his SJW soy boi dream.
they also didn't imagine Rian Johnson would kill the franchise in TLJ
So yea he was the one that wielded the knife, but she was either the one pulling the strings or didnt have the wherewithal to know when to pull the strings to stop Rian. Either way she is just as much at fault.

This board is funny. So many here kick and scream about how studios should not interfere with directors but then turn around and say studios should interfere with directors.

Making a billion dollars (rise of Skywalker) means the property is dead?
What are the numbers for the disney trilogy?

This is true. However, the relationship changed between the two of them when she took his treatments for episodes seven, eight, and nine and threw them in the trash.

quote:right. Which is why i think Lucas could be a good fit. Just with ROTJ and the prequals, Lucas was chasing the money. Not that the property isnt his, he might have more inspiration to better the universe over chasing the money because Disney would get all the profit. Plus he is getting old and might want a swan song that isnt the prequals.
They bought star wars for the profit not to remove Lucas.
just a thought.

It was also among the most expensive films ever made, with a budget of $275 million. That budget ballooned, however, with the re-shoots and post-production nightmare that apparently took place all the way up to a month prior to release.

I'm not arguing it wasn't a disappointment.

Yeah BEFORE the Disney trilogy came out. Do you think maybe things have changes some with how George sees his creation in the hands of Disney? Especially after TLJ?
Iger even had it in his book that George felt stabbed in the back by what they did and KK was a huge part of that if not the focal point. I'm sure she proposed some grand new "modernized" version for Iger and he bought it.

On a different note, on Disney+ the header image should say Lucasfilm, not Star Wars. It's silly to lock a studio that has done so much more into one franchise like that.

This might be splitting hairs, but isn't Indiana Jones "Lucasfilm" as well? I don't think Disney owns the rights to that franchise.

I highly doubt that he cares enough about how the new trilogy turned out to boot out a person he gave the job that he has a 40 year work relationship with.
I also doubt he wants to head a studio again as well.

Based on Bob Iger's book and sources that have come out since, he cared a lot and was very troubled by the last 2 movies especially.
