Trailer
About the Battle of the Teutoburg and especially seems to center on Arminius.
Definitely excited about this, though the trailer seems a bit heavy-handed on the "grand, glorious, epic" approach moreso than telling the tale about political complexity, military strategy, the complex personalities involved, and so on.
There is loads and loads to mine for incredible story-telling in the Roman annals that has basically never been covered in modern Western pop culture - especially anything after about 250 AD up to the fall of the Western Empire. Glad that someone plucked Teutoburg out to tell a tale.

Hopefully it turns out better than Vikings.

I loved Vikings in the beginning but I’m really struggling to finish the last two seasons.

Just watched the first 4 episodes and it’s freaking awesome! Love the POV from the Germanic side and how much the tribes were divided before Arminius.
I wish Netflix would continue this series with a different part of Roman history every season.

Yeah I'm though 4 episodes also and loving it. Definitely a good twist to see it from the Germanic side of things.

Watch it Dubbed or in German?

Dubbed and I couldn't tell.

decent , the final climactic critical battle scene was disappointing with the long drawn out dialogue but I get it.. expensive
And I would have liked a better telling of why losing the eagle was so important to the Romans but a good use of my time

I'm a history buff...I know how this ends. The refugees won!

I'm enjoying it.
I also know the battle tactics for how this plays out, but im enjoying the story.
I'm only 3 episodes in and I didn't realize how broken then germanic tribes were at the time. I thought i read it as 5 or 6 major groups.

Did you fall asleep as soon as you turned it on? How could you not notice it’s so annoying

The German is dubbed, the Latin is in subtext.
Herman was a great man, but he had a hot temper, which was not shown in the series.
His name was Hermann der Cherusker in German, Herman the Cheruscan.
The battle fields of the Teutoburg Forest were first found in 1988 and cover a large area.
This rebellion of Roman rule only happens due to 8 legions were pulled out of German tribal areas and sent to fight in the rebellion in the Balkans. This left Varus with 3 legions only and a huge area to control.
The show did a good job in showing the trap Herman set, by talking Varus into chasing a fake rebellion.
Herman was not the adopted son of Varus.

Yeah it was good, watched it through last night and today.
Always something incredibly interesting about any and all things on the Empire of Rome.
Main actress was gorgeous too
