I think they made a good point for how and why closeted homo's act. That made sense.
The CTE stuff, yeah he obviously had some brain issues, but this dumbass was doing stupid shite well before and as one of the guys on the documentary said, there's thousands of football players that have CTE and don't go around murdering people. That was Aaron's choice.
I think the gay stuff probably played a much bigger role in all of this, but even that would never excuse this dumbass murdering 3 guys and attempting to murder 3 more.
Aaron's mom came off pretty shitty that's for sure "i told you just give me a million dollars and i'll be set for life"
I think they did a good job of exploring how big time football players and programs get away with things at times, and are able to sweep them under the rug.
I think if you want to pinpoint the biggest reason he did what he did was b/c he was stupid enough to think he was bullet proof and could get away with it b/c he was a famous football player. He got away with little things at Florida, which led to him trying to shoot up someone that he completely got away with. They even had the Boston police detective talk about how he thought there was no way Hernandez would have been involved with the double shooting, and that case never went anywhere until the car was found. Had they done any investigation into Hernandez, they probably would have found that car a lot sooner.

This show is really depressing and stupid all things considered. He had what most people could only dream of having and he threw it all away over some "gotta be a tough guy" thug, bullshite.

Anyone else watch this and listen to them keep saying "no one has ever murdered someone and played a season in the NFL"
And think...uhhh...Ray Lewis

It’s ok. I’m halfway through.
A lot of blame for AH’s actions being blamed on a lot of people other than AH which I don’t really agree with.

Its a decent Doc. I'd like to make it known though, that I don't agree with all the excuses his friends, etc were making for him. Guy was a murderer, plain and simple.

no sympathy for him whatsoever, but it was truly a tragic story all around. at the same time, maybe somewhere along the road he could have gotten some help, maybe not. feel bad for the families involved and the little girl who has to grow up without a father. imagine what will happen if the kids in school ever find out who her dad was.

I didn't know about the Alexander Bradley situation. Wow.

Odins friend from the semi-pro team was very good too. Very real and raw with his observations.

Big Losers of the program:
1. Florida and Urban Meyer - AH fired a gun into room of people, the school and coach know, and i guess its cool because he didnt hit anybody. No action taken by school or coach.
2. New England Patriots - There solution to the AH problem was setting up a flophouse apartment for AH in NE. Im sure it was like the gay White House there. Craft's rub and tug circuit wasnt going to be enough.
3. CTE - The majority of people with brain injuries and cognitive problems dont murder people. The guy's problem was substance abuse and real psychological problems from sexual abuse as a child. People can work there way through those problems without killing others also. He had resources through NFL to deal with all these things but didnt use them.

Exactly. They were searching for a motive other than him just being a psychopath.

Since none of the motives for killing people were ever made concrete by the courts, I'd say it was reasonable of the filmmakers to explore potential contributing factors like CTE and sexual abuse/repression.
It doesn't make him any less of a deviant, and actually is mildly comforting that a person with a defective shrunken brain with a propensity for irrational unjustified violence will most likely find themselves removed from civilized society eventually, either by their own hands or by other deviants or by law enforcement.

It seems like they focused way more on the idea that Hernandez allegedly being a closeted gay man had a bigger impact on his behavior than CTE. Maybe that’s correct, but it seems like, comparatively, they spent more time on the being gay stuff.
HOWEVER, I personally think his story was primarily due to the fact that he lost his father at a very impressionable time in his life (and had a bad mom), and ended up around bad people like his cousin.

This. He killed people because he wanted to. It made him feel powerful. Not because he lost his father or CTE or the weather that day. Countless people in the world go through the things he did and don't go all Patrick Bateman like he did. The abuse angle was relevant in that current understanding is trauma coupled with genetics is what makes a sociopath.
I thought it was weird how everyone acknowledged that his father was an abusive POS, but in the next breath talked about what an upstanding citizen and positive influence he was. Good people don't beat their kids and knock their wife unconcious. Those actions are mutually exclusive with being a good father. He was the same as AH only he didn't flagrantly violate the law. He was able to charm and manipulate everyone while being a violent monster behind closed doors.

Yeah I thought that it was interesting how the Patriots handled it. Hernandez explained to Belichick that he felt his life was in danger. He asked for a trade. Belichick bluntly told him no. The Patriots got him some shite apartment for him to hide out in and smoke weed. I know in the NFL you usually don’t just trade a player when they ask, and Hernandez didn’t deserve it, but Belichick probably feels some guilt.

Dude what? I'm sure Bellicheck sleeps like a baby. "Hey coach, I murdered some people and my buddy saw me do it. I got worried he was going to rat me out so I shot him in the face. The thing is...he survived and now he wants revenge so Imma need you to trade me to Seattle or some shite. K thx."
Posted on 1/19/20 at 11:09 am to RabidTiger
I’m pretty sure Hernandez didn’t confess to Belichick that he killed anyone or that he attempted to kill that guy. Just saying maybe Bill regrets not trading him.

I thought she was extremely loyal, obviously to a fault. I didn't think she was a bad person.
