Maybe, but I was really referring to darker women with really strong voices who never seem to garner enough viewer support to hang in long enough for whatever reasons. Plenty have been on that were talented vocally which doesn't seem to matter all that much to the audience that votes via whatever method. Just giving them some credit.

Yeah, the powerful black female singers never seem to last long once it gets to live shows.

I don't like Josh. I think he does a good job of singing exactly like the person who origionally sings the song, but I would never buy an album by that guy. Not that he sucks, but I'm just sold on him.

Neither he nor Olivia have a shot at winning so it's a moot point. I bet I am the only one on here that got drug to a Javier Colon show by a spouse, too. And had a good time.

I think maybe it's because they sound too much like other black female singers. I'm guessing though. The last winner on AI was a very powerful black singer, but she wasn't a "copycat" type. I thought she was terrific.

Olivia may not win but she has a chance to get a record deal retry easily. Her voice is good enough to sing country and she is drop dead gorgeous. Kind of reminds me of Carrie Underwood when she was on idol although there is much more competition on this show.

She was great and deserved to win, Candace was her name I think? I don't know that she would win this season of the Voice, tho. Some of those singers have gotten some bad coaching input, coaches song choices that don't work, or chose really poor songs themselves. Like the poster wrote regarding Josh, if the contestant has a very good voice there is more risk in changing a song to try and gain some positive differentiation and screwing up than adhering more to the traditional version and singing it very well. The guys with the best chances of winning all have high quality yet different voices which is refreshing. I am just happy the country contingent is much smaller this season than last, that got really stale towards the end. Christina's dramatic improvement in attitude and friendliness (real or fake) have definitely been an upside this season, guess she was feeling heat from the Shakira judging season.

I watched the last 4-5 weeks of the last Idol, I can't sit through the rest of it and the X-Factor is a non-starter. Cowell must have had an ironclad 3 year deal as the ratings of X-F must barely have a pulse.

ETA - my wife reminded me that Candace got cut in auditions for two years before making the cut and winning, that's crazy.

Yeah, it was Candace and she was cut a few times before getting picked. She worked on her vocals and they matured. So did she, apparently. I loved her. Hmmm....I think she'd last a while on The Voice, BUT the coaches/judges sometimes make a difference and I think Blake has a strong fan following that contributes to his wins.

Last season on AI, there were Facebook pages with tons of folks complaining about AI and the judges. I'm anxious to see how things go this season, particularly with Harry Connick Jr on the show. I love him and I think he'll be a positive unless he just sucks as a judge really badly. People like his music and they like him.

Xtina is somewhat tolerable this season, but it's still all about her and I do think that Shakira's popularity and behavior influenced her, along with dropping all of that weight which makes her happier. I'd still rather have Shakira though I don't think she's a great coach. I think she will improve, though.

I watch XFactor. The entire show isn't great, but there's been some talent on that show and I like singing shows so it's all good for me. I don't like America's Got Talent, though.

Christina top to bottom has the best team IMO, while CeeLo has the weakest top to bottom.

quote:

Team Blake:
Austin and Ray end up the top 2... Blake saves Honey Boo Boo over Cole, and definitely over Nick. I could really see Blake's team going any which way but Nick... it's a 4-way battle for the three spots and I'm hoping that Cole, Ray, and Austin all advance but I doubt it happens.

I feel the same about going any which way, but I think the country voters make Shelbie a top 2. I don't know who would go home along with Nick.

quote:

Team Adam:
James is in for sure, I think Will gets the other top 2 spot, and I am leaning toward Adam saving Preston but he might go with Tessanne. Grey is fricked, she's better than almost all of team Cee-Lo, but she's on too strong of a team to advance.

I think Tessanne and James are top vote recipients. I think Will deserves to be saved, but Adam could save Grey because she has had some stellar performances in the past. That said Will is on a roll recently.

quote:

Team Cee-Lo:
Caroline is the top spot, and I think Kat gets the second spot because the rest of his team was weaker than overcooked spaghetti last night. I've hated on Kat the whole show, but she was better last night. I think Cee-Lo saves Amber, but I wouldn't put money on it.

I think the exact same about all of this.

quote:

Team Christina:
Jacquie and Matthew advance automatically without much of a challenge. Christina sings something to draw attention to herself, then picks Olivia to advance.

I think this exactly as well. But Josh Logan has some talent she might save him.

It stinks because Christina, Blake, and Adam all have a 4th contestant who should make it over a 3rd from CeeLo's team. Just unfair how the system works until it becomes bottom 2 regardless of team.

This is similar to what I think about all the shows. I don't like divisions. I'd rather just see the top performers. Not an even amount of boys and girls or an even amount on teams. Just give me the top singers and let me watch them.

I'd go Adam for the best, then Christina. Blake would be third just because of Nick, and there's no doubt CeeLo has the worst.

I think the 4th and 5th people on Adam's team would be in CeeLo's top 3.

Finally caught up and I agree with everyone - there are going to be some people going home tonight that really shouldn't be. Cole has been awesome IMO but I don't know if he makes it. Same with Will and Grey from Adam's team. Grey has the chops but hasn't delivered in her last 2 performances. In fairness Will should advance over her.

They all pegged Cole and Matthew as favorites to win it. Cole should advance pretty easily. I think Ray might be gone.

I'd put Matthew and Jacquie as the 2 front runners right now. I really like Cole though too

So far, so good for the people I listed that I wanted to move on. Adam's group will be tough. I'd put all 5 in and drop Johnny and Kat from Cee-Lo's team.

Glad Blake made the right call in picking Ray over Shelby Z. Cole, Austin and Ray is pretty stout.

Damn... Olivia > Josh Logan IMO but I figured Christina would pick him.

I'm hoping it's set up that the bottom 2 from each team go this week and then after that, it's bottom 2 go each week regardless of the team they're on. I remember the first couple of seasons they were cutting the teams evenly all the way across and I think people complained because really talented people were going home. I definitely prefer the format of "the best should stay", regardless of their team.
