there is no f'n way I'm going to pay for network TV.

100% free by antenna. No cable or streaming fee.

The people who are paying to see The Office reruns on Comedy Central are doing so by choice. The same with those paying Netflix for Office episodes.

I can buy the Office for less than it would cost me to pay for the streaming service. They need to be careful because people flock to streaming for the convenience. If I now have to pay for a bunch of individual services, I might just go back to just buying them outright.

cancel for a month and watch that show and then switch back.

This is annoying as shite to have to keep up with every month.

Well if it’s so annoying then feel free to have all the services.

Just don’t cry to me about how it’s the same as cable. It’s not.

I find that the best experience is to have cable with a DVR and HBO.

However, I can get a pretty decent watching experience with just a couple streaming services with significant savings.

Amazon Prime and Hulu Live TV are great. Netflix has pretty good originals, and HBO still gets great new release movies in addition to their excellent original tv shows.

Looks like my cable subscription will keep getting better as I'm sure any separate NBC service, like all the other networks in my subscription are included with what I get access to.

I get Uverse 200 with HBO for $27 / mo. Gigabit internet with no limits for $73 / mo. I only have an extra subscription to Netflix. Hulu is included with Spotify subscription and Amazon Prime video included with that subscription.

Streaming services are out of control. I use Netflix year round and will pick up Hulu live during football season. Anything else i want to watch i'll either stream it from an "alternate" source or just go and buy it.

The only thing that will change those practices is if Disney + comes with ABC and ESPN. If that happens then Netflix will go bye bye and i'll keep Hulu for the Fox and CBS games.

This is why Blu Ray’s and DVDs will never just go away. It’s going to be much easier just to own shows like this on DVD and pay for NEEDED services like Disney+

They will. Not because people don't buy them I think but because movie studios and retailers want them to. This is why movie studios release films to digital around two weeks in advance of the physical media.

A store like Wal-Mart has a financial stake in their streaming service (Vudu). My local Wal-Mart's blu ray section has been almost completely empty for the past 3 months.

It's not necessarily streaming services like Netflix that will kill blu ray but the ability to buy and rent movies digitally off of a service like Amazon or Vudu.

It will definitely backfire. This fragmentation will eventually lead right back to a reconsolidation
Bet we never see a company get something like The SEC Network included in basic service the way Disney/ESPN got it included in cable.

Sports programming led to more cable cutting than anything else. This site is full of sports fans, so many might not see it that way. Everyone's cable went up a little bit because of The SEC Network. Lots of non-sports watching people complained about it.

Looking at it honestly, I see sports fans as a minority that got our programming for less than we should have for years. In the future, we'll probably have to pay extra for anything like The SEC network, on top of anything else we'll get from ESPN. Probably have to pay for ESPNU, and ESPN2 also, if ESPN is still around.
