Alexander
What an absolute disaster this was.
Seriously, what was the plan here?
Let's take one of the most interesting people in the history of the world, and let Oliver Stone spend $150 million to film an incoherent story about his sexuality with some confusing, historically inaccurate, and poorly executed battle scenes sprinkled in.
Let's also make sure to have the Persians wear turbans, because frick it.
I'm positive that this movie could be done well with the right director, sadly I don't think we'll ever see it happen

If done right, The Bridge on the River Kwai would be a must see remake

I really want to see a current version of The Most Dangerous Game. It was always one of my favorite short stories growing up and its been a while since they made a movie (1932).

The Never Ending Story
quote:Eh..,
directed by Peter Jackson
Fellowship is my favorite movie of all time and LOTR is my favorite trilogy of all time, but I just wonder if Pete has lost his touch Lucas style. Wouldn’t mind him producing it, but I’m not sure I’d want him directing it.

300 (or a whole movie about the Greek/Persian War) made with the same feel as Gladiator or Braveheart
I understand that 300 was taken from the Graphic Novel...but the story of Thermopylae (and the long-term result) really needs to be told in a non-comic book way.

I don't think I've ever been let down by a movie as I was by Alexander.
I'd love to see a well done movie on him or Napoleon

Hannibal has always been one I would love to see. How can we get across the Alps? How about on MF-ing elephants?

They need to make Stephen Pressfield's Gates of Fire.
At one time, maybe 10-15 years ago, George Clooney was attached, so not sure how that would have looked. Around the ocean's 11-12 days.
But damn if that isn't a good book and a much better telling of the battle of Thermopylae. Really it was more about the men and their family's and the human aspect of it all vs the actual battle.
Been years since I've read it but there's a scene where Dienekes explains to the younger men at the battle that they're all going to die and it's ok to be scared because loving your countrymen and sacrificing yourself for your brothers in arms is the greatest thing you can ever do. Or something like that. I'm not doing it justice, but it's probably one of the greatest monologues on fear, and probably why, at one point, taught in most of the military acadamies. And other reasons.
There are so many poignant scenes in that book. And Leonidas isn't a caricature, but a damn good king.
And the battle scenes would be real, something like braveheart, vs comic book-ish. I liked 300 but every time I watch it I just think how Gates of Fire would be such a better movie.
ETA: I just read up on it. It was in development around the time Troy came out and due to lackluster box office of movies like Troy and Alexander it probably wasn't going to get made. Then 300 came out and they said frick it.
Maybe in like 10-15 more years.

I have not. I just looked up the plot and it sounded interesting thought. What are your thoughts on it?

maybe not a full remake but re-edit Law Abiding Citizen and fix the ending
