The thing is, he really doesn't even "stir the pot" like he used to. Now, he's basically just a great talker on camera and essentially a player-coach producer, plus still a high level competitor.
He makes funny comments and still gets digs in every one on a while, but just go watch some old clips when he was at his peak powers and he's almost not even the same guy. He was so much more aggressive and confrontational. He also knew he had lots and lots of backup and a huge alliance so he could do that.
Even in the years after Kenny and Evan left, he was pretty much untouchable because ppl were so scared to go after him. It took idiots like Cory and Nelson to get the numbers on him before they started gunning for him, as well as Wes trying to screw him over as well.
The most impressive thing about John's season was actually winning those eliminations...especially the one against Rogan. Rogan should have easily won that bell thing. He's bigger, stronger and younger than John, but still got smoked 2-0.
It basically won him the season by winning the Elim and getting a full night's sleep.
Wes has to be killing himself for his stupid move this year. I don't know if he would have won the final, but he would have sailed through that math equation and probably gotten a lead.
Dude, all these people are insane. That's why they're there. Do you know how many cast members would probably actually pass a mental evaluation?? Not many. That's why when people like Kaycee come on and just seem like a relaxed, normally tempered, non psychos, they stand out.
Most cast members even acknowledge how screwed up everyone is. It's not normal behsvoir to want to do what they do. They essentially go to summer camp mixed with prison mixed with a mental institution for months in end every year.

the way, I didn't know it was some rule or something that you can't talk about realizing people are insane before other people do. Apparently that's like the worst thing to talk about on a Challenge thread

Tory fairly easily beat her in an elimination last season.

Yeah good points. He’s evolved much like CT has from being a dude who beats people up to using politics more.
I think that was my point about him morphing and thinking like a producer. In a way it comes off as fake, but he does what he has to do to stay relevant

the fact that a math equation is still a hurdle for these fricking idiots is hilarious.
the equation was probably like "27*10+83-12"
i understand that answer is not 1136, but that's the kind of shite we are dealing with. and kaycee and cory made it seem like calculus

Just finished and it was a pretty lackluster final except for the elimination after the first leg. There needed to be more checkpoints. The soundtrack was so awesome felt like I was in high school again.

Fessy and Kyle reminded me of Shrek and the donkey, with how Kyle wouldn’t shut up and was annoying the shite out of Fessy.

This was by far the best part of the finale.

Fessy is gonna be another CT or Zach. Strongest guy in the house but weak in cardio. Could still win a final but isn't a guarantee. He's a top tier player for sure. Cory had a good showing but once again him being dumb as a rock was his downfall. He wasn't gonna get that math question in ideal circumstances. Jenny could sleepwalk to that win after Kaycee got stuck on the math part. Even before that she had a solid lead. Kaycee couldn't handle the cold.

As stupid as they all are, it’s a hell of a lot easier to do math from your couch than it is in -20 degrees after a bunch of cardio while racing 3-4 other people. Not that it should have taken some of them as long as it did, but I’m not about to pretend that I would have figured it out as fast as I did from home.

I wonder if CT will ever get his weight down or just be content in collecting whatever they get paid for the season? His cardio isn’t bad for a dude his size and him shedding about 20-25 lbs would further put him in contention even at his age.

CT is probably making $50-$100K just to show up. Anything else is just gravy.
If he does 2 challenges a year, he's made. I know he and John and Kenny and others used to do a lot of appearances. I figure he way too old for that now, though.
He could easily cut 50lbs and be a monster again. No one besides Fessy and Zach are even close to his size.

Probably no need to if he’s content with this life. In that interview I posted, John mentioned the salary of doing two challenges a year is enough to allow him to “live a comfortable life.” I imagine CT and Wes command similar salaries.
I wonder how close he is to some of the Teen Mom/Jersey Shore types. I know the original Teen Mom folks can command $300k a year

Jersey Shore cast makes millions. I don't think they're really comparable to any other mtv cast members.
If CT and Wes and John can command $300k just for showing up, I'd be shocked. I figure they get a base fee then like $20K per episode or somthing the further they make it. If they make it all the way to a final, they could probably bank an extra $150K or so on top of Their base show up fee.
If they get winnings or take $500K like John just did to win, they could make a hell of a lot of money for 1 season.
I don't know how much TJ makes but it's probably pretty good by now. I know he's said in the past that they put him and his family up in a badass house every season. He spends most of his time doing vacation stuff and really only films a couple times per week.
I think he hangs out a lot with some of the set up and test crew members. Many of which are probably just as crazy as he is when it comes to stunts.
He was the only host that really embraced the gig. He probably didn't make much in the early days but knew a free vacation to exotic locals 2 times a year was the best gig in the world.

TJ has said before that he brings friends out to the locations to party and vacation. That's a pretty sweet gig, and yeah he only has to show up for a few days per week, unless there is something going on like someone getting sent home for fighting.
I'd imagine some of those challenge days take a good while to film though, since they have to reset everything between contestants. Like the one with the car skidding into the barrels, that had to take a while each take.

I bet they make a good bit, the challenge isn't very interesting without them.
From what I read the final was brutal but it didn't translate to TV well. Editing was especially bad. I didn't like that they announced girl/guy winners literally during the finale. Didn't like the 1min advantage. I feel like they constantly are changing the parameters slightly from year to year and it gets annoying.
Overall this was a really good season that moved things in the right direction, the red skulls particularly needs to be a thing every year. I would even addvthe more wins you have the more it helps you in the finale.

That's a good twist.
The only problem with the red skull concept was no one really took advantage of strategy to try to blackball other players. Everyone ended up getting their shot in the end.

Agree there’s more twists they can do with red skulls. I think it’s here to stay. Nobody will ever skate by again without winning an elimination.
If they keep tossing early players in who keep winning, I could see a contestant becoming immune once you win your 2nd or 3rd skull. They make a rule that that player can’t be voted back in.
And I agree, I would have loved to see Josh or Bayleigh sent home because it was Finale time and they had no skull yet. But on the other hand, it’s nice to have a week or two on the back end where all players have skulls and they are back to old school politicking and backstabbing and running scared.
Really good and solid season. (Aside from all the Dee bullshite. And Corey has kids to raise.)

I think that would be awesome. Would make for interesting game play early on for sure. Make it 3 skulls and you are in the final.
