I have unfortunately come to the conclusion that we overrate Star Wars. The prequels didn’t deter this, as insulting to the PT as it was, I don’t think George was deliberately insulting the OT. Rian Johnson clearly was.

Just imagine if he had directed IW and if he got his hands on Captain America.

Rian Johnson is this generation's Joel Schummacher.

Heck the title of the review is called Star Wars The Last Plinkett Review. And he is clearly advocating a boycott at the end. I wouldn’t be surprised if they really are done with it unless something radical happens (retcon, Episode X, etc.). They’re as big of fans of Star Wars as anyone else.

At the end of the Half In The Bag for TLJ, they pretty much all said that they weren't the least bit interested in seeing Episode IX.

Joel Schummacher apologized for Batman and Robin. No way in hell will Rian Johnson apologize for TLJ. This is an insult to Joel Schummacher.

I'm more annoyed by the idea of Hyperspace tracking

I hate TLJ with an unbridled passion, but what's with the hangup on hyperspace tracking?

Didn't Vader and Tarkin track the MF through hyperspace after letting them get away from the Death Star?

Yeah, see I'm not going to boycott it. I just genuinely have little to no interest in it. I don't see how the trilogy can be saved or revived. While the movie is okay as a standalone movie, it basically fricks the third film. There is just nothing left there.

And I feel like you have to care enough about something to want it in order to actually boycott it. I wish Disney just handed the Star Wars franchise to Feige and said, "Please, sir, erase the past and create something with this rich world we're giving you." Hell, bring David Yates in and say, "You have 3 films. We will rebrand the other two films as Star Poors and pretend they have nothing to do with the canon of Star Wars."

JJ Abrams should have never directed TFA. Instead JJ should have been the Paul Fiege of Star Wars and then he hires the directors. JJ I think is a great producer and an OK director. His vision for Star Wars is not toxic and I think would make sensible risks. I just wish he would get out of directing and just serve as the guiding hand for all this. Instead they gave it to Kathleen Kennedy, who has no idea what the frick she is doing. JJ would have immediately fired Johnson when he turned in the first draft.

It's one thing to put a tracker on a ship they had possession of.

Yeah didn’t they put a lojack on the Falcon and THAT’S how they tracked it?

I’m okay with that.

Not okay with being able to scan hyperspace with some kind of hyperspace radar.

Not okay with that or fuel concerns. Nowhere in the prior 8 films had spaceship gas tanks been mentioned.

If three spent more time on Anakin turning it could be great.

I agree with all this but the prequels, even with improved story and dialogue, would still suffer from the cartoonish visuals.

I complained that the prequels didn't have enough OT elements like real Stormtroopers and real Star Destroyers. In hindsight, it's nice to have Clonetroopers and the precursor to Star Destroyers instead of a retread like in the ST. I feel like production felt they had to include an Empire and troopers to replicate the OT feel rather than something new entirely. The villains of the ST should have been the Knights of Ren.

Knights of Ren or a growing New Order against a fledgling republic would have made sense. Too much sense.

Watched the hour and forty minute review on episode 3 last night.
He was spot on.
I know question this whole thing.

Did I ever like Star Wars or is it all nostalgia?

No. They had an actual tracking device on it.

I never liked the clone troopers.

I always thought the clones would be something else.
Instead all storm troopers are basically Boba Fett.

I remember watching his Episode III review and thinking it was weak. While the film has its flaws, I really liked Revenge of the Sith.

Modern day US nuclear aircraft carriers can go 20-40 years without ever needing to be refueled. The thought that you would wait until you had a couple hours out of those 40 years to address it is so stupid it doesn't warrant thinking about.

Smaller fighters are show to be fueling a few times. You can see xwings being fueled up both before the death star attack in Star Wars and on Hoth.

But the bigger ships are never shown to need it. Han makes a point that a small fighter could not get that far on its own but no one is ever worried about the bigger ships needing fuel. I always assumed they were somehow self sustaining. Like maybe they used some kind of sci-fi nuclear massive fusion technology. The death star did explode when they hit the reactor and power core so there was obviously some massive technology involved not just fueling up at a space gas station. The concept of fueling up one of the giant space cruisers is beyond asinine.

Either way, letting yourself run out of fuel is just another point in an extremely long list of gross incompetence by Leia. There is a lot of talk of ruining Luke's character, and rightfully so, but the absolute pathetic destruction of Leia's character by Rian Johnson is often overshadowed.

After TLJ Leia has to be the most incompetent leader ever in a movie. For all the talk of feminism and nonsense they destroyed what was a fantastic female character. In the OT Leia is a very competent government leader and war time general. In both TFA and TLJ she is a beyond incompetent moron. And instead of building up her character they tear her down and replace her with whatever Holdo was supposed to be.
