Great soundtrack. Richard Dreyfuss just crushes the role. The ending really gets the feels going. It also makes us remember that one great teacher we had in our lives.

When he teaches the young black teen to pick up the drum beat is a great scene. Then he learns that kid was later killed in Vietnam. Tough stuff there. Good flick, op.

If you don't cry when Mr. Holland sings Beautiful Boy, you don't have a son. Or a dad. Or you're not human.

Came out when I was a teenager, hated it. I'll have to rewatch it as an adult.

But the actual opus sucked. Needed John Williams to write it.

I prefer Mr. Holland's Owed Puss. It's a classic.

I loved this movie when I was a kid. Really says a lot about how good this movie is.

Or it could say a lot about me

I’ve always felt Mr. Holland was a bit of an a-hole and that Dick Dreyfus was pretty unlikeable in playing him.

Not sure if it was intentional to show that he was flawed, but he treated his son like crap. Angry at him and the world because he was born deaf.

Then he almost took advantage of a young, maturing Rowena.

Having said that, I’d love to see an update w this being ‘Mrs Holland’s Opus.’ She would undoubtedly be banging students within the first 20 minutes.

I remember renting it on vhs when it came out and really enjoying it as a teenager. Haven’t seen it since, and think I’ll watch it this weekend.

Everyone has flaws. That is not the story.

The story is how they, hopefully, overcome them which Holland did with his son.
