Most people agree with you here, but I'm still a fan of the original. I liked it when it was man against machine, rather than man-destroying machine against man-protecting machine. The 2nd definitely had better effects and a bigger budget, but I still like the story of the first.

I agree with:
Empire Strikes Back
The Two Towers
Wrath of Khan

I really can't believe anyone would like Temple of Doom better than Raiders. To me, Temple of Doom was only slightly better than the last piece of crap in the series.

Ditto for Rambo II over First Blood. First Blood was a good movie. Rambo II was just a bunch of explosions. Not a bad time, but not a great movie.

Godfather 2 is probably the best sequel ever, but I still like the 1st Godfather better.

A few thoughts on this:

TMNT Secret of the Ooze>>TMNT 1

Go ninja go ninja go!

I see a lot of people say Rambo 2 > First Blood. It's your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more. Loved First Blood but was hugely disappointed in all the sequels.

Rocky 2 I used to believe was better, but after watching all of them so many times, I've reverted back to thinking the original was the best.

Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is better than Excellent Adventure simply for the Grim Reaper. Station!

Godfather 2, yep, slightly better.

Army of Darkness, far superior to Evil Dead 1/2.

Godfather Part II
Empire Strikes Back

these are the two most obvious to me.

Same here. Other than the special f/x, the first is way better.

T1 was a much lower budget film

You have the same situation with
Road Warrior>Mad Max.

Soundtrack wise? Certainly. Lots of Vai...

Movie wise... coin flip to me.

Soundtrack for Bogus Journey was awesome. That was right before Grunge killed hairbands.

I've been planning on watching them. I've seen bits and pieces of them when they come on tv. I just want to sit down and watch all 3 from beginning to end sometime.

They really are two radically different visions and I don't think either is better than the other.
