Movies where the action scenes are about 10 times louder than the regular talking scenes

Watching Air Force One on Amazon, and I am having to constantly turn the volume up and down. WTF?
Side note; a patriotic, friendly with the Russians, movie will never be made again. Still a great mindless, popcorn eating action flick!

Any Michael Bay movie, especially the Transformer’s series.

The Dark Knight.
I still don’t know half of what Gary Oldman said in that movie, but every explosion is permanently imprinted on my ear drum.

Currently watching a Gary Oldman scene from AF1 and can't hear most of what he's saying for fear of the next action scene.

I loved Fight Club back on DVD and it didn't matter what sound setting you put your TV on.
The intro music would be blaring and quiet narration and the fight scenes would be loud blaring music and screaming with Norton sounding barely audible over the fighting.
The movie was terribly sound mixed.
Or maybe it was just my Sony that interpreted sounds wrong but playing with the settings never worked to get a balance.

I remember the Van Helsing action scenes were ear piercingly loud

Sicario drove me nuts for this exact reason.

This phenomena is very irritating with The Last of the Mohicans. Can't hear them talking so you turn up the volume. Music and, or action, starts, and you're waking up your neighbors.
Seriously, it's a movie you can't watch if you live in an apartment, and someone else has already gone to bed.

Did interstellar have shitty sound mixing at first? I feel like I remember having a difficult time hearing dialogue over the effects. Maybe I’m making that up.

I find this to be a huge issue with most of the shows I watch on Netflix and Prime. I have a sound bar under my TV and the sound is great but in order to have the soundtrack at the right level most of the dialog is lost or at best whispered or mumbled. I guess my old arse is just going to have to have closed captioning on all the time.

This is the absolute worst when trying to watch television after putting small children to bed. Every scene of any television show or movie seems to fluctuate between whispers and screams. Watching TV while holding the remote with my finger on the volume button takes me out of the experience.

Check and see if you have Dolby atmos, surround or something activated on your tv.
It makes the movie sound better but makes dialogue harder to understand.
I have additional setting called adaptive sound that helps with dialogue with atmos but lowers bass

When you're playing a movie/TV episode, change the audio setting to "stereo" instead of the default 5.1 setting. It will help out a lot. Only problem is that there's no apparent way to keep this setting, so you have to do it for everything you watch. No biggie for movies, but shitty for TV show binges.

The Last of the Mohicans.

Just saw I have a "Volume leveling" setting on mine. Changed, and going to go check it out!
Going to go check out some movies!

This. It's absolutely infuriating that they can't/won't stop doing this.

Harry Potter would do this.
I remember my dad bitching about how loud certain scenes would get
