The Body is a short story and is really good but Stand by Me is one of my favorite movies.

IT and Tommyknockers are way better than the TV shows. Misery is really good both ways.

The Langoliers TV show would have been great as a comedy, man was it awful.

The first season of Game of Thrones was on par with the first book, maybe even better if they hadn't left out Ned's dream

The Natural
In the book he strikes out in the final game instead of hitting a home run that brings the house down and loses his girl, his son, his $$$ and his job.

They don't address the promise that Ned made at all though. That could be key if theories are true.

Jaws

The movie has a 40' mechanical shark and explosions while the book has...pages.

Fwiw--John William's score (just two notes actually) put this movie over the top.

read the book, it was god awful.

Forrest Gump was a better movie than novel.

I don't think I care for the book's protagonist.

Count of Monte Cristo- Same with above. The book as is just would not be a great movie. Very little action. There were some unbelievable sequences that would not have held up on a movie screen.
this is also true
