I agree with that completely...I like the movie reel, but not in the "finished" logo as much as some of the other ones that were thrown around in one of the original threads.

Thats because i was told NO color, we were deciding solely on logo, so i put no color in it. I hate the drop shadow as well, that wasnt meant to be in there. It was sent to BA very quickly on a friday afternoon as i was packing to drive home for the weekend. I didnt even realize the drop shadow was still in there..oh well lol

I haven't read 5 pages..but I'll just say keep the color scheme. It's distinct and loooks good. Don't fix what ain't broke and all that..

And that's fine. But I don't think he's "behaving" poorly or whining at all. It seems to me like he's pretty level-headedly explaining that his problem is with the process more than the results. He even says that he had a problem with the process previously when a logo that he liked/voted for had won, so that certainly doesn't feel like whining, at least to me. Who knows...and you're free to call him out, as I'm free to call you out, as whomever else is free to call me out, etc. *Irish accent..It's a vicious cycle.

Thanks. I probably took a black eye from this anyways, so I'll stop now and leave this:

I like the idea, but the gold, unless it's an Oscar or something, makes it look like the saints.

All black and white with that Hollyword board is a tie for the Movie Reel.

That's my reaction to the "winning logo." See the previous thread.

I suggested this when the "official" voting thread got hijacked and another "official" voting thread was created. we should just sit on this for a few months and restart. but, then a 3rd "official" voting thread was created. Is it really official if there's 3 different one's created by 3 different posters, with 3 different set of rules?

Heck, I could start a 4th one right now, pick the designs I like the best and people would start voting again. I think this whole process is the very definition of a mess. IMO, one of two things need to happen:

1. Someone else needs step in and moderate this process.
2. We need to set a threshold for the vote to only be accepted if a higher % wins the vote (75-85%)

btw, I feel like a woman just participating in these threads.

I actually think that's a good idea. Not sure if others would agree though (I doubt Control Cop would, for example).

You mutha...

As I mentioned before, I came in fresh with the GF/Stout Logo War. That original voting thread went to shite, which I found to be frustrating since this seemed like such a simple concept. Pick canidates and vote. B.A. volunteered to start a new, clean and concise thread, and I am just supporting him and the goal of simplicity.

The pre-existing mess seem's to have soured some, which I now understand. What I don't understand is what more do you guys want? Coke and Freaux? Are you not happy with the logo choices? Are there other logo's that were ignored that should be considered? And why am I spending valuable work time debating this topic like this is the fricking Geneva Convention?

Anything I say from now on is kind of soured by my initial over reaction, so I'll let other, less affected people debate this.

But I will answer this: Because we are a bunch of overly critical, overly dramatic movie nerds.

Black and White. HAL's eye, there's a lot of good things that the logo could mean. Something deeper, like Wild Strawberries. That's how a board dedicated to people dissecting film and television should treat it. (Overly dramatic associations to Bergman added for effect).

That's why people are a little more passionate around here.

PS: Again, I apologize. I've also had a supremely shitty start to my week. So there's that.

a general consensus and agreement on a new logo. a logo winning by 2-4 votes is greater than 50%, but not a consensus. About half of the people don't like the logo. By contrast, the Gaming Board logo was liked by over 90% of those who voted. Perhaps a better idea has not been submitted yet that would get more people in agreement.

Also, this is not the first time this has been tried on the Movie/TV Board. and, both times it has turned into a turd sandwich. Last time, the idea was tabled.

I feel like the gaming board is a little more insular than this one. So they weren't getting as many random interlopers voting on a new design as this board got.

I think that is one of the underlying issues as well. Some people are upset that so many people that never post on this board got to decide how we rebrand it. Some are doubly upset because their favorite didn't win and they didn't like randoms interfering with the process.

I don't know what the solution is. I liked both logos. I like the current color scheme.

There were 453 active threads last week on the m/tv board. Only 192 active on the GB.

The m/TV logo got 80 votes and the GB logo got about 70...

No you are just acting butt hurt. There were actually MORE drop in votes on the GB by percentage.

This is the definition of overcomplicating things.

That being said, I wish the presidental election worked like this.

Seriously though, Project is right. The m/tv board has a lot more traffic, vocal and non, and I doubt we'll ever see a vast majority consensus.

I'm of the opinion that, while the "table it and wait until we find the perfect logo" is a nice theory, it has clearly not worked out that well. So why not go with these two and move forward? Or do we need to vote on whether the logo needs to be changed at all if these are the two options?

The Hollywood logo has actually won a legit vote twice now... I will still cater to those that would have no change at all if it means this one.. but I truly believe the majority has spoken... twice. I won't shelve this until I truly believe that's what the majority wants, otherwise I see 3% of the population complaining.

Noted. What are the unique poster numbers?

About what? I was just explaining one of the many positions on this issue. I didn't say that I'm actually upset. Just provided a reason why some people are upset.

I'm not sure how you calculated that based on the numbers you provided.

Selfishly? I want this one:

I'm not, but this isn't the Cocomo board, it's the Movie/TV board. Like I said, I'll still post here as usual whether or not I think the logo sucks. So in the end, it doesn't really affect me that much. But in reality, it would be nice if most of us could agree on a clean, nice logo for the board instead of one that half the people hate.

It's pretty much a fact if you look at the vote thread and know who the regulars are on the GB. We have way less regulars than here but only had 10 less people vote.

I see what you are saying. I know there are fewer GB regulars, that's why I said it's more insular.

I don't know who they are though, because I don't ever go there. No one really wants to talk about NCAA baseball on the old x-box, and that's all I really play.

Sorry on my phone.. I meant people that are saying that are acting butt hurt.. the whole "RANDOMS voted for OUR logo!" is a false pretense and doesn't add up.

Nah, I still think some people would prefer only the regulars vote, I had seen that posted in some of the threads, that's why I brought it up. What didn't add up (which you and stout corrected me on) was my assertion about the GB vote.

ETA: but yeah, some it may just be butthurt.

"Bunch," is an overstatement and part of the reaciton, Sorry. But still, below 100 Posts total.

And i repeat, fair is far. This isn't the reason the process if problematic. Bad early process, unclear rules and a slim margin of victory are.
