Martyrs was disturbing but went over the top at the end.

I try not to count films like Salo and Serbian Film since they purposefully try to go to the extreme.

Something like We Need to Talk About Kevin or Room are more disturbing to me. Snowtown Murders or Requiem for a Dream - the ones that are actually happening in real life mess me up the most.

Clockwork Orange is disturbing, but it's really just Kubrick showing the world the "MK Ultra" mind control program. Plus it's got some great dark dark humor that it lighten sit up a bit.

For me, Fire in the Sky will always be way up there...

Requiem for a Dream is also an excellent suggestion.

I've seen Human Centipede 1/2 and Requiem. I thought Killer Joe was pretty messed up.

Recent new winner for me is Raw.

I purposely do not watch any movies like any of the ones mentioned since I believe that spiritual evil exists in our world. I watched A Clockwork Orange when I was younger and made it a point not to watch anything like that ever again. I did watch movies like Friday the 13th, Halloween, and NOES back in the 80s but hav'nt watched any of the more modern horror movies like The Grudge, Insidious, Saw, Blair Witch, and most recently IT. I just feel like I am inviting evil into my presence if I watch them. The evil portrayed has to be at a level I am comfortable watching and those types of movies are way beyond what I feel comfortable dissecting.

Cannibal Holocaust is a popular one. Due to the actual animal killings in the movie, ill never watch again.

Have not, and probably will never watch, A Serbian Film. It's disturbing for the sake of being disturbing.

I'll throw Hellraiser in the mix. Has some super violent imagery and very messed up theme.

The rape scene in the girl with the dragon tattoo was the angriest reaction I've ever had to something fictional.

For non-fiction, Der Untergang and the documentary about Jonestown were the two most painful things I have ever seen. Those things all happened. Magda Goebbels poisoning her own children one by one...my god man.

Our opinion of ourselves as a species is grossly overvalued.
