Swingers perfectly captured a fleeting, yet inccredibly 90s trend of that L.A., 1950s retro comeback vibe. That basically came and went in like 2 yrs.
That's why I thought Clueless was perfect... It even caught the Swingers thing with the Christian character and the mighty mighty bosstones.
That trend was very similar to tbe early 80s "urban cowboy" thing that lasted like 2 yrs then vanished.
Airborne also really caught the semi-grunge phase, too that Singles had as well, only was right in the heart of it.
All 3 are great time capsules.

Clueless was my first thought when I read the title. It’s not the best movie from the 90s, but it’s 90s turned to 11. Others mentioned definitely capture the style of movies that were popular but clueless captures more than that.

Clueless is also an absolute delight to watch as well...and not just because I was head over heels for Alicia Silverstone when I was 10. I'll defend that film all day long.
Even now, there's just such an innocense to it.

Took way too long for Clerks to be named (second page, unless I missed it).

LA white kids with skateboards, the cool click, the dark click, the rich click, the poor click, drama in the middle, rehashing Valley Girl filmed ten years prior, what exactly about the 90's did that movie capture so succinctly?
Not even trying to be a dick, just an honest question.

But if I only had one vote, it goes to Hackers. Nailed the 90s film aesthetic to a T.

How the hell has the Big Lebowski not been mentioned yet, especially on this site?
Forrest Gump
Titanic (I'm sure the board hates it but it was too big an event to overlook)
Sixth Sense
Good Will Hunting
Space Jam
Fight Club
