How the hell has the Big Lebowski not been mentioned yet, especially on this site?

Took way too long for Clerks to be named (second page, unless I missed it).

Encino Man. It had neon outfits and hair spray. Shush!

This thread is not "what's the best movie released in the 90s", it's "what movie is most representative of the 90s decade"

Yeah the answers are all over the place, it’s really tough to figure out. At this point, people are just naming their favorite movies released in the 90s.
Is the OP intent which movie is best representative of the 90s movie aesthetic (eg. Speed, matrix) or which is the best movies actually about life in the 90s (eg. American pie, can’t hardly wait)?

Opening scene of Ten Things I Hate About You has Third Eye Blind’s Semi Charmed Life playing. As far as “taking me back,” that can’t be beat.
Edit: it maybe wasn’t the opening scene, but it does stick out in my mind. Just tried to find the clip on YouTube, and yeah, that movies just drips 90’s.

Well I remember the 90s as the birth of Political Correctness...and if you were in College in the 90s, you were wondering what the hell is going on?
Campuses were enacting speech codes and there was real debate on whether this is good for places supposedly designed for open ideas.
Now college campuses have gone full retard.
But it started in the 90s which is why I mentioned PCU.
It encapsulated what was going on...and poked fun at the growing movement.

Con Air is the defining example of a 90s over the top corny action flick. In no other era could that movie be so popular and have a lasting legacy. There’s so many objectively terrible things about it and yet it’s so fricking awesome.

First thing that popped in my head is Can’t Hardly Wait. I think Clueless and She’s All That are good picks also.
