Holy shite.

This was actually a good movie. For what it was trying to be, they nailed it.

Clearly this is no Oscar contender, and it knows it. But for a fun action movie based on an over the top video game, it was a fantastic ride.

They brought back the cast, but changed the focus. They amped up the fights to eleven. There were tons of pop culture references that landed perfectly.

Karl Urban’s Johnny Cage played a great reluctant hero who’s actually more of a side kick (ala Big Trouble’s Jack Burton) and lays on the cheese factor just right.

I’m not even a big fan of the game and I had a blast.

Go see this one fellas.

I feel like 80-90% of movie watchers want exactly this. Why is this so hard to understand?

I'm not saying that all audiences of different things are like this, but its good to see there's still some people that know who their audience is and what they want.

Went with some friends who were real excited, expected to be disappointed but have fun with friends. It was awesome! We all had a blast! Definitely catch this on the big screen if you can, in IMAX or Laser.

Why do people keep saying this

Oscars movies usually suck now and aren't enjoyed by majority of America. Why do people keep bringing this up to pay a backhanded compliment.

Mediocre nostalgia-bait? Definitely.

Michael, MKII, and Devil Wears Prada 2 all out at the same time.

MKII,

The movie was anything but mediocre. It was great if you enjoyed and played mortal kombat as a kid.

nostalgia

What’s wrong with this? What’s wrong with giving people what they and DOING IT WELL?

Just look at the Pizza Hut story going around right now. People want things that make them happy whether it’s new or nostalgic.

Nothing. Nothing at all.

Nostalgia - its delicate, but potent. Teddy told me that in Greek nostalgia literally means “the pain from an old wound.” It’s a twinge in your heart far more powerful than memory alone. This device isn’t a spaceship, it’s a time machine. It goes backwards, and forwards… it takes us to a place where we ache to go again. It’s not called the wheel, it’s called the carousel. It let’s us travel the way a child travels - around and around, and back home again, to a place where we know are loved.

Don't forget Masters of the Universe.

The boomers had Forrest Gump, Gen X had Ready Player One.
Barbie movie made a zillion dollars.
Stranger Things made a zillion dollars.
Jumanji Reboots - it goes on.
Nostalgia is big bucks in Hollywood. The window is moving past Gen X into Millennials. Testing out Gen Z (Minecraft movie?)

I just want to be entertained. I don’t need my movie theater experiences to be Oscar bait… I can save that for a lazy Saturday afternoon when I’m just chilling g on the couch.

I want spectacles on the big screen. I want events.

I’m glad this may be one of
