re: Mortal Kombat II

I had a crap ton of fun watching MKII. It was much improved from the first movie. Unfortunately it didn't do well at the box office, so the series likely ends here.

I watched this a couple nights ago and thought it was really good. I really liked the first one, more than most did, and I thought this one surpassed it mainly because of the lack of focus on that dumb Cole character. Although he did go down swinging in this one.

I also liked them bringing Kano back. That dude is funny, and it just works for a movie as dumb as this. Same with Johnny Cage...it was cheesy and dumb, but it's supposed to be. And Karl Urban nailed it. I also liked that he lost his match too, but was able to make up for it in the end. That was cool.

Basically my only gripe with it was how Kitana just decided to switch teams and that affected the wins/players left standings. That seemed like too easy of a fix, and why even have rules in the first place?

I'm also not a huge fan of the Sonya character, and thought she was way too central to the plot. But still, that's whatever.

All in all, this was a fun watch and the violence and graphics were awesome and fit right into what a MK movie should be.

I hope they keep churning these out every couple years.
