100M to make
I know it will make a ton overseas but this has to be near a record, right? Biggest budget to opening weekend ratio?
It finished in 6th place for the weekend and the Grinch almost made twice as much and has been out 6 weeks

Off the top of my head, John Carter may be close
Edit: checked, Carter was $30 against $250. So relatively if returned more on its budget
Apparently King Arthur Legend of the Sword did $15 against $175. That’s the closest I could find

such a damned shame. that was a good movie, and Lynn Collins was a smokeshow.

John Carter will be the one film I take into a nuclear bomb shelter.
Once we rebuild the masses must known of his courage.

I loved John Carter. Sad we’ll never get another one. Terrible marketing on their part.

Political agenda is in your face the entire movie.
Watched it with my 12 year old yesterday and enjoyed it as entertainment, that’s about it.

What is the propaganda everyone keeps talking about?
Posted on 12/16/18 at 11:42 am to dallastiger55
Reminds me of when I went to see Elysium not realizing it was essentially an Obamacare propaganda flick

How so?
I have no idea what the movie is about even after reading some about it.

Current human race is making shite products and fake food. Brits are snobby and stupid. Southeast Asias are peacekeepers. Americans are responsible for heroics with all the glory but the root cause of many major world conflicts.
That’s pretty much how I saw it.

It looked like complete arse. I’m a big Sci-fi buff and have no desire whatsoever to go see it

Must be amazing to live life this way. Elysium was garbage for lots of reasons without having to tie real world politics into it.

I'd never even heard of the books before I first saw the trailer a few weeks ago. What a stupid concept for a movie (although most of these "young adult" sci-fi movies seem to be stupid).
