Ugh. Awful. Turned it off about 3/4 of the way through the first episode.

Well shite. I don’t think I realized that he was involved. I think I’m out. I pretty much can’t stand Ryan Murphy’s bullshite.

The EG story is already twisted enough, but I assume RM goes overboard with his usual bullshite and I would borderline hate it.

That’s disappointing. Oh well.

I think that's fair. I finished up to episode 6 and this could've been a movie. The Ed Gein stuff is masterful- it's probably the most graphic thing I've ever seen from a mainstream production. I can absolutely see how fans of the series can't handle it considering it's been very much true-crime to this point. Looking at it from the horror genre, it's fantastic.

That being said... the B plots are all over the place. I understand the need for contrast, and I did find the Psycho/TCM aspect interesting, but it's just dropped out of nowhere for the storyline of a character that I legitimately believe was written originally as a hallucination (more on that after more have seen it). I would've liked to have seen this continued to talk about Thomas Harris/SOTL but I don't think that's happening

I have no idea how they're going to get two more episodes out of this

Listening to Slayer Deadskin Mask this morning. 3 episodes in. They are just making stuff up that didnt happen to prolong the series. Visually its good but the cutaways to Germany, Psycho, TCM at end make no sense

Psycho, TCM

I think if they continued that foil, it could've been done very well. Like have a Psycho episode, TCM episode, SOTL episode (which has not appeared) and contrast it with Gein's actual acts.

I did find the theme of 'how people can't look away' (re: Hitchcock/TCM) interesting considering how popular the previous two seasons were, and now we're getting blasted with more than anyone asked for. Idk they hinted at something great but lost it.

The visuals are what's going to stay with me. It's just too good to ignore over a mess of B plots imo

I am not enjoying it. Moves slow but the acting is good. I am only 2 in but so far i do not care for it.

Shoot. I actually forgot Ryan Murphy was behind this series. I really don’t dig the overly theatrical world he creates. I might still give it a shot, because I’m intrigued by the Ed gein story, but I’m a lot less enthusiastic knowing this now.

This is his most overly theatrical one to date.

I’m a big true crime fan and have listened to numerous podcasts on Gein so I was looking forward to this one. 3.5 episodes in and I’m a little disappointed.

He is seriously embellishing things and taking some serious liberties. Especially with Hitchcock which is really frustrating and certainly with the transsexual stuff. Yes, Gein dressed up like his mom. But it wasn’t because he wanted to be trans, he was trying to embody her. But of course today if you think about a guy dressing like a man it’s immediately trans so why not make Ed Gein a wannabe trans? Kind of cheap storytelling to do that.

I don't follow much on Hollywood history but from this show they have made Hitchcock a pervert and Anthony Perkins gay don't know if true but of course the tranny narrative is pushed also. I am three episodes in and it is not terrible but it's all over the place wtf is real and what isn't. Germans and the link to Hollywood. Good lord

Starting episode 5. I can’t believe I’m still watching this, it’s awful.

Murphy is creating his own genre with this one. Barely true crime.

Same. Shame, it could have been a good series if they just told the story, it's interesting and weird enough on its own with out all the fake added weird crap.

He can’t just take a good idea and and make a simple but good story. He’s for to add all kinds of extra nonsense in that takes away from it. To the point that many of his things become unwatchable

Dahmer was a rough watch because the viewers got to see his “process “. I’ve been thinking about giving this a watch

Just finished it, not that good. Took way to many liberties with Ed Gein's story. The first two versions of Monsters were much better than this one.
