The hero is an agent is some secret govt agency. He has a mission that goes bad/he’s set up. They have to break into some super secure building where they have to get information from a super computer. The set up was by his mentor/boss from the same agency.

The US Marshalls isn’t some secret agency. The other parts were pretty blatant after I thought about it. Maybe it was because I didn’t remember them being from the same year, but they really don’t feel like the same sort of movie either. “Eraser” is more action to “Mission Impossible” as being a thriller.

Are you sure you're not talking about the sex film "Missionary Impossible"?

easily the best MI movie of the series.

Yeesh. I don’t want to give you shite for this, cause I like the first one too, but the only reason someone can say it is better than Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation is if they haven’t seen Ghost Protocol or Rogue Nation.

Obviously, the folks that grew up watching this movie and were probably 10-15 when this came out have an extreme different viewpoint on it from those that either are too young to remmeber it, or only saw it after the newer films were embanked in their memory.

This movie as a kid was a vhs staple that really the whole family could watch and enjoy.

It rode the wave of incrdible spy films of that period, that really began with in 1990 Hunt for Red October and last until about 1998's Ronin. I'd say Bourne and MI:2 took the genre in a very different directon.

In that span, Clancy was king with Patriot Games, and Clear and Present Danger, but there was also had True Lies, Goldeneye, Sneakers, the Saint, and even spoofs like Spy Hard and Austin Powers, to go along with MI and Ronin... Plus you had Crimson Tide (may not be spy movie, but in the same secret mission vein)

Many of those were really before the Michael Bay/Independence Day influence that began dumbing down movies.

In the film it’s portrayed as a more secret unit called WitSec. I tend to doubt that the real US Marshall’s fake deaths of witnesses to the point of breaking into the city morgue and stealing bodies and setting fire to a house.

I mean that’s kind of tomato-tomatoe. The basic plot is virtually identical. The tone/pace of Eraser is more classic Schwarzenegger action movie for sure

Haha. I wasn’t afraid. Was having issues making it work.

Unlike the time I flew my helicopter in your mom’s Chunnel.

Right that’s the only options since no one was born before 1980

True. They had to make it more badass for Arnold.

I’m not arguing with you. Merely explaining why I never put them in the same category as the volcano and asteroid movies.

Me and my wife watched it a week ago. I agree with previous post. Did not age well at all. Was glad when it was over.
We watched it over the weekend. Tom Cruise in those masks was hilarious. He's obviously Tom Cruise in a mask in every scene. Then one of the villains says, "Find him? HE COULD BE ANYONE!"

I recently rewatched Sneakers and that movie still holds up...love that movie.

Glad I'm not alone. It didn't get the greatest reviews, but I loved this movie. I cannot think of a bad performance in it.

Ving Rhames was the worst part of the movie....just like most of his movies.

This is why I love this board, irrational hatred of Ving Rhames.
