Yeah it certainly isn’t the shite marketing and a film that never really established what it was or being a movie nobody asked for. But sure your dumb little narrative about dem gays is what caused it to bomb. Kids movies have had gay characters in it before and they didn’t bomb damn must be something else

Dude this movie is going to make 150 million less than Sing 2. Shut up about the bullshite reasoning. We all know why it’s bombing and your excuse making isn’t working.

My kids love the Sing movies. I love the effect those two movies have had with my kids. It is Trojan horse to better music than the kids bop crap.

Sing I buy the kids movie excuse because it’s fine what it tries to do, but it’s definitely not an ambitious film. The Toy Stories though are set up to a higher bar to where nothing short of masterpiece is an acceptable standard for that series. I still think Toy Story 4 should have never been made since the ending to 3 is perfection.

The kid really wanted to see this one so we took him and his buddy Sat AM. I laughed out loud more than once. Better than I expected.

On a side note had a great 70's soundtrack.

I never saw you respond about your quote after seeing the lightyear trailer
I was wrong about kids wanting a Buzz Lightyear movie. Turns out they didn't want it enough to get their parents to bypass the negative hype and bad reviews.

Turns out kids and adults love Minions.

It wasn't a great movie but it had some funny moments. The animation was great and the sound track was good. Kids seemed to like it a lot.

I thought the third one was awful. Barely laughed at all. Honestly, I can barely remember what happened other than Gru has a brother or something like that. I hope 4 is hilarious again.

This is only the second Minions movie. I really enjoyed the first one.

It's not really even necessarily the gay kiss that was the nail in lightyear's coffin. It was the shite storm that it created. It was originally cut, then the sjw Disney employees lost their minds and started the whole internal shite storm that gave us the gems such as the mom with the trans and pan kid and the producer that was including her not so secret gay agenda.

It's all connected. Disney did this to themselves when they decided to blame the consumer and essentially call them bigots. Comic creators have done the same thing going after fans.

Because it’s not the Buzz Lightyear that kids know and love. He doesn’t look the same, he’s not a toy with his other toy friends, and the plot is stupid and confusing.

The minions are like crack to young kids.

I suspect had Disney (and Evans) not lost its fricking mind, Lightyear's numbers would have looked like this

Essentially my thoughts as well. Kids enjoyed it. Wife and I fell asleep for about 20 mins and missed nothing.

It was an ok movie. I like Alan Arkin. There was some good music and enough laughs. I did see one teenager dressed like a Minion going into it.

There's also a decent size social media push to see this movie. There's a weird "Gentleminion" trend going on social media. Folks are dressing up in suits going to see it. Also involves bananas for some reason. I don't know, I'm old, my teenager told me about it. All for the Snapchat and Gram. Whatever it takes for social media cred, I guess.

Agreed. Plus Bo Peep being a commando always seemed forced to me.

So why did "Minions" soar this year and "Lightyear" flop?

It comes down to storytelling and target audience, box office analysts say.

No mention of what-we-all-know.

Bwahahahaha.

I’ll harken back to one of my more upvoted posts on M/TV board:

I don’t want Pixar to fail because they included a lesbian kiss. I want them to fail for patting themselves on the back for including a lesbian kiss.

So MINIONS is being held up as great “storytelling” while a PIXAR movie in the TOY STORY UNIVERSE isn’t great “storytelling”? Yeesh, Disney and Pixar have killed the golden goose
