Just got out. Really funny and fun movie with a lot of interesting ideas/scenes
Definitely feels like there’s a lot going on plot wise, with a crazy amount of narration and exposition (especially early on), and in some places you can really feel where they glued a few different versions of this movie together. I think there’s a 2 hour more focused version of this movie that is really something great. Even thematically it never really settled on a point or overall message while throwing a few out there. But this was still a really fun time and would recommend seeing it

I loved the previews. I like Pattinson. What they did with the Ruffalo character really zapped me out of the immersion into the story. I was really disappointed because my expectations were so much higher.
Ruffalo did a fairly terrible one dimensional character unworthy of a good actor, writer, or director.
This type of movie can age really poorly. It becomes less about the universal human frailties and virtues than grinding a political perspective.

Saw this last night. It was a great time. If you’re interested at all, you should go see it. Pattinson is one of the best actors working today. But the whole cast was really good, with the exception of Ruffalo. He’s really limited as an actor. Casting him was a misstep. But the movie overall is well worth your time.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. DefInitially worth a watch.

Pattinson did a great job wouldn’t be surprised if he had some light Oscar buzz for his performance.

Do you have to see Mickey 1-16 to understand this one?

Movie was fantastic.

Pure idiocy on display for all to see.

Well that’s because mark ruffalo might be the most overrated actor of all time. He is fricking weak in everything he’s ever done, always overshadowed and to this day, I have no clue as to why he is in anything ever, at all.

You don't like him because of his politics. It's just true. Dwi

Regardless of Ruffalo's politics, he's horrible in the movie. He doesn't have the comedic chops/charisma to pull off this part. It's an obvious Trump parody, but a crap performance out of him. Pattinson is excellent though. Movie was below average/mid.

I would hope anyone who isn't a Trump fan could see the very obvious 80s/90s televangelist in the character concept. This broad, corrupt capitalist figure that doubles as humorous punchline is an archetype Bong has included in all of his English-language films. See Tilda Swinton's characters in both Snowpiercer and Okja

Dogshit movie, what a disappointment.

I really have Trump exhaustion at this point and didn't want to have a character like that in what I hoped would be more of a pure science fiction movie. I assume that the previews didn't show the analogy because it would have reduced the appeal.
But it wasn't just that. The character as played was dead weight. Ruffalo's character is fairly centered in the movie and just drags the whole thing backwards. Toni Collette was also inexplicably terrible and not even understandable enough for her character to generate the antipathy they intended.
There's some good stuff in there with Pattinson and the premise but what a wasted opportunity. For a fairly long movie it lacked development. It seems more like an anime or kids level science fiction than a complete project for adults.

Ruffalo himself alluded to his character being a Trump like figure on Fallon the other night. They weren’t exactly being subtle

I agree with this. It also can be true that Ruffalo could have had Trump in mind for his character. None of that matters. The critique of Ruffalo’s performance is not based on politics. The only reason political issues are even at play here is because one braying jackass (TT9) decided to bring his own biased feelings about actor’s politics into the discussion and project them onto someone else. These comments are not warranted or welcome. It is possible to offer critique of a performance regardless of the performer’s politics. That’s a lesson TT9 needs to learn.

Ruffalo admitted his character is Trump on Jimmy Fallon.
