Well, the reported struggles with alcohol and a transplant at 39 seem to fill in a picture. I'm not sure that is a sinister logic leap.
But, it's sad either way. Addiction is a horrible thing, and so many child stars growing up in a party lifestyle seem to struggle.

I'm not stating she didn't suffer from substance abuse; I'm just saying that it's also possible that she simply suffered from a disease.
My mother had polycythemia vera, and to look at her lose weight (she was already thin from the start) it probably looked like she was starving herself to death. I can only imagine what conclusions people who saw my mom in her later years without knowing anything about her condition would have presumed.

I knew her from BtVS. I didn't see anything else she was in, but clearly Gossip Girl had a large enough following to gain her some more fans.
The only other thing I heard about her in recent memory was when her and Michelle Geller both popped off about Joss Whedon a few years ago. And just recently, there was talk of a revisiting of Buffy, with SMG involved. I'm assuming Michelle T was going to be on board as well..
