MCU vs Star Wars

Which has been a better steward of the intellectual property and the fans over the years?
The Wars will always have a special place in my heart, but if I'm being objective the MCU is on a different plane in terms of consistent quality and overall coherence.
The best Star Wars movie since the originals has been Fanboys.

Easily MCU. Star Wars hasn't been good in over 30 years.

Star Wars...and not even close. The MCU is wildly overrated, IMO.

Big Star Wars fan, but the MCU easily. They may not all be great, but Fiege has yet to frick up anywhere near what Kennedy had done. Sure he neutered Ultron, but that's not as big of a frick up as allowing hyperdrive to be used as a weapon, which negates almost every Star Wars story except for Episodes III and V. I mean Rogue One, what was the point of getting the Death Star Plans when you can just attach a hyperdrive to some asteroids and then thrust them into the Death Star.... and what is now the point of the Death Star?

Movie-wise, MCU but they had an advantage in being able to pick and choose and kitbash stuff from 50+ years along with keeping consistent showrunners, while distancing themselves from a lot of the comics division current shitshows.
Franchise Star Wars is hard beast to beat. Sure there's missteps like Ewok movies and Christmas special, a PT that was poorly executed and a ST that's not finding it's feet with the general audience. But the comics, books, and video games were hot for decades.

You might want to specify whether you're talking about Marvel Studios or the Marvel Comic Universe in general. The current Marvel Comics Universe goes back almost sixty years and has been mismanaged at times to the point of near-bankruptcy. The intellectual properties were sold to anyone who would pay for them, no matter how shoddily they planned to use the characters.
For the most part, Lucas was more circumspect in the management of his properties.

I love Star Wars, but it's easily the MCU IMO.
There hasn't been a great Star Wars movie since Empire.
There have been several great MCU movies over the last decade:
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
And also a bunch of really good MCU movies as well:
Avengers
Thor: Ragnarok
Black Panther
And I'm sure Infinity War will also fall into the great/really good categories. Solo on the other hand looks to be a disaster.

MCU = The Current Iteration of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Are we including all appropriate forms of media?
Video games, tv series, novels, etc that are associated? Because Star Wars only has 2 movies since Episode 3. In that same time frame Marvel has 18 films. Not the same situation.

In my mind, it is Star Wars. I'm not sure anything can knock it off the mountaintop, but that is due to years of nostalgia.
TFA was a solid movie that I absolutely loved when I stepped out of the theater, but the more I watch it, the more elements I notice that just bother me (like how there's barely any interaction between the new core characters Poe/Fin/Rey). Many of these same issues are exacerbated in TLJ yet the new film takes the story in a completely disappointing direction that nearly kills my interest in the franchise.
I do enjoy the anthology films. I felt like Rogue One, while lacking in strong characters, was a movie made for Star Wars fans and had some cool moments such as the return of Tarkin, Darth Vader, and the best space battle since RotJ.
The MCU movies are just fun popcorn flicks that lack a lot of real substance but make up for it with nice visuals, cool characters, and a lot of explosions. They are also fairly apolitical (I have not seen Black Panther) whereas Star Wars seems to blatantly be trying to push an agenda down everyone's throat to the detriment of the story as a whole.

MCU
There’s 2 great SW movies, a couple passable ones and a bunch of dogshit. The MCU has been good to great almost its entire run.

I love Star Wars and that universe but the better of the two, objectively speaking, is the MCU and its not even close. They have done a near flawless job of building a universe and slowly adding on, the continuity is incredible

Pains me to say it, but MCU wins. Consistently above-average movies with a few great ones thrown in. The best of Star Wars is vastly superior to anything in the MCU, but there's nothing in the MCU that can match the crapfest of episodes 1, 2, and 8.

If we're talking this specific point, and we're being limited to the MCU specifically (and not to Marvel as a whole because Captain Hyda = Jar Jar Binks), then it's the MCU and it isn't really close.
The MCU/Studios, specifically, is far more attentive than probably any other property to fan needs and wants in its films. It's the thing that makes everything tick....and the thing that makes things awkward at the same time. But they do it regardless. This also means they've limited control and some flexibility, but it all serves the purpose of putting Marvel on film, and they've done a stellar job of that.

Ridiculous. You may not like the decisions, but Ep 8 is a well made film. It should not be included in the same sentence as the prequels. Also, you really believe films like TIH, the IM sequels, The first two Thor films, etc are better films?

No....no it wasn't.
The opening scene with Poe set the tone right off the bat that it was going to be a shitty movie.

No it isn't. You can fly a Star Destroyer through the plot holes.

Only Episode II is worse.

Yes. I have problems with these films, but they're at least coherent. I still have no clue what was going on in TLJ. Like what the frick is happening in the universe? It makes no sense.

C'mon man, you know you're one of my favorites here but you're being ridiculous. It's nowhere near as bad as the prequels.

You think the IM sequels are coherent? Those movies are garbage.

I think that Episode III is better and it's on the same level as Episode I. The podrace is at least somewhat a redeeming factor as is Darth Maul, and I liked Rey and Kylo's interactions. Aside from Natalie Portman's in that sexy dominatrix outfit, Episode II has nothing going for it.

I think they're bad and uncreative, but I could keep up with what was going on.
