And the animated series have brought many characters to live-action: Ahsoka, Zeb, Ezra, Thrawn, Cad Bane, Bo-Katan, Hera, etc.

Clone Wars cartoon movie takes place immediately after Episode 2, years after Maul's "death". Clone wars cartoon series takes place immediately after its movie leading into Episode 3.
When does this new Maul series take place? He's got two organic legs so I'm guessing it's pre-Episode 1.
