Their new deal, which runs through 2027, covers six more cycles of “South Park” and includes 14 made-for-streaming movies.

“We did a ‘South Park’ movie in 1999, and we’ve never done another one because the show has been so satisfying,” Stone said in an interview from his home in New York. “Now we’re older, and the idea of what streaming movies can be is pretty promising.”

Will they do more than two episodes(specials?) this year?

Sounds like a perfect six seasons and fourteen made-for-streaming movies for Randy.

GD, they are getting a billion dollars for 6 more seasons and 14 "movies", which from reading the article, seem to be hour long specials. Amazing.

Well they haven't had an actual season in like 2 years. So this is kind of worthless if they don't actually do anything.

Yeah, these streaming services are going nuts these days. Paramount+ also gave Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko one hell of a deal with 3 more Avatar series and 6 movies which they’ve said they already roughly know what they’re going to do and will take 20 years to complete.

$900 million

I guess Southpark hasn't jumped the shark

People in Hollywood should take note, they just made 2 pandemic specials and one had Randy getting pimped by Disney's Mickey mouse fricking a bat, curing COVID with jizz weed, and was immediately banned in China

900 million

six more cycles

That doesn't sound like "seasons" to me. Which would suck. I need some new SP in my life, and not the pandemic special bullshite...actual, legit seasons.

I could get down with that though. I know it won't be feature-length movies like SP:BL&U, but that movie was amazing. So if they could come close to the effort they put into that one, these could be something to see and enjoy.

Plus, SP has just earned my unwavering viewership over the past almost 25 years. Whatever they put out, I will watch, and I will confidently assume I'll enjoy it too. Even "bad" South Park is still better than a lot of other shite.

Wow and here I thought they were secretly trying to call it quits. I didn't take them as guys to hang on as long as possible...not that it's grown stale...but I figured they'd go out on top.

Wish they would go back to the 14-17 episode seasons instead of just 10.

Also when is the new season supposed to start? Seems like it's been forever.

Wait, the new movies will be for Paramount+?

I thought they just signed a deal for $600 million to air the episodes on HBOMax. Why can't all of this be on one streaming service?

Or are they already pulling out of the HBO deal?

I guess when someone is willing to pay upwards of a billion dollars, you listen.

While the seasons will be on C, I do hate that the "movies" look like they will only be on Paramount+. I really don't want to break down and get a subscription.

Also:

Their first project under the new deal will be a movie set in the world of “South Park” that will debut some time before the end of the year.

Looks like their first one should be coming in the next few months, so that's good.

I think the are still in the HBO deal, which gave them the rights to the older seasons, and HBO can show episodes 24 hours after airing on CC. What I can't seem to find is the length of that deal.

From OP's link

quote:

In 2018, the streaming rights to “South Park” once again came up for auction. At the time, Viacom was in the process of merging with CBS, which operated All Access — the streaming service that would later be rebranded as Paramount+. HBO Max swooped in and outbid All Access, offering $500 million over five years.

I want the show to be about the four boys again. It has turned into the Randy Marsh show and it’s too much.

I know that opinion is unpopular, but they really overdid it with Randy.

Honestly they are setting up Tegridy Farms as a spinoff (it basically has been tbh) and could easily do that, and let SP focus on the kids again.

Do it Matt and Trey.
