Dunno about that. In the 80s and 90s I think Marvel had generally more popular characters and titles with younger readers (stuff like Wolverine, Deadpool, X-Men, Punisher, Symbiote Spiderman/Venom, Secret Wars). DC suffered from a lot of stale characters when I was growing up.

Just my opinion I suppose

I mean I’m not expecting you to go into some deep critical take on the MCU but something more than muh woke should be bare minimum

Man of Steel

Genuinely bad movie. Cavill doesn't act like superman (moody, vindictive baby who acts emo most of the movie), the story is fricking dumb (why is he hitchhiking/walking cross-country instead of, idk, fricking running at superspeed), Pa Kent had so much potential with Kevin Costner in the role but even he ended up being a confusing, shitty father figure.

I mean it really is,
For a few, maybe.

Most mean a specific thing when they say a movie uses the girlboss trope.

Such as? Girlboss seems to just be a weird complaint anytime a main woman character does something impactful. None of the Marvel movies have really had this much, Carol, Kamala, Monica, and Natasha all had their own problems that didn’t really make them some “girlboss”. The problem with Carol is the same problem with Superman in DC, she’s so powerful that she should be able to rip through their antagonists. So they have to come up with reasons why, difference is usually the writers are able to do it with Supes not so much for Carol

Such as?
A female character who is essentially a Mary Sue. She is the best because she is the best. She necessarily diminishes heroic male characters in order to shine. Usually all male characters must be deferential to her, or they are scumbags (or villains)

They generally don't require training to improve, nor is their arc one of learning from their failures (because they almost never do). The only growth they ever experience is learning she has had the power all along and just needed to believe in herself.

Usually paired with the "girl who is the key to everything" trope

There's a whole list out there, iirc.
