The new seven episode series premiered today. I’ve watched the first two episodes and so far I’m impressed, plus Yahya Abdul-Mateen II playing a younger John Creasy doesn’t hurt. He was great in Wonder Man and I like him in this role as well.

I really loved the movie with Denzel and Dakota Fanning, so I'm admittedly hesitant to watch. Good to hear it may end up being good though.

Has anyone seen the original set in Italy with Scott Glenn as John Creasy?

I did a few years ago. It was decent (there's more folks in it than you think) but I thought it kind of coped out on the ending. I can't help but compare it to the Tony Scott adaptation which I prefer.

Good to hear, glad to know I have something to do tonight!

I am 2 episodes in and it has been great so far.
It is crazy how people in Rio live in structures all stack on one another.

Denzel's was obviously better

That’s the truth. Those Favelas are on a different level with the amount of people crammed into a smaller space.

The editing is off pace a bit & the lead is overacting is arse off. I feel like I'm watching an audition tape at times. He's certainly no Denzel. But its a good watch.
Oh that guy

You should go back an watch City of God about gang wars in the favelas. They demonstrate how at least that slum came to be.......originally designed to be a regular neighborhood with 1 and 2 story houses.

After seeing this thread, I binged the whole series. While it was good, it followed the same story line as many others. By the second ep I thought I knew who the bad guys were going to be and was correct. I had another issue with it that many of the same type shows have, but that is a discussion for another day.

I’ve only been able to watch the first four episodes but it was pretty clear who one of them was going to be. I’ve still enjoyed it though, the main actor is great IMO, not so much for the girl.

I finished it today and it’s not bad for a seven episode Netflix season. It was never going to be on the same level as the movie for a lot of people and that’s understandable. I will say after watching Wonder Man and now this, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is on his way up in Hollywood.
