For better or worse at least include that information.

What does that matter when we have quotes on what they’re looking for now?

When you start off saying

quote:

Here’s who is heading up the next 10-12 years of Bond films:

It sounds like they were not heading up the last 29 years.

And you can make whatever argument you want about then not being great.

I stopped watching James Bonds after Casino Royal and thought the last few Brosnan movies were dumb.

They need to just hire Caville, stop all the “modernizing”, and be done with it. They are stupid and going to ruin like Disney did Star Wars and MCU.

Both Wilson and Broccoli, who is a director of the U.K. chapter of women’s advocacy org Time’s Up, have left their mark on Bond, particularly in humanizing the once-womanizing spy and ensuring more fulfilling, meatier roles for the female stars of the franchise.

These are qualities that will continue in the next films, says Broccoli. “It’s an evolution,” she says. “Bond is evolving just as men are evolving. I don’t know who’s evolving at a faster pace.” Craig, she adds, “cracked Bond open emotionally,” bringing audiences into the character’s inner life.

Lucien Laviscount

His name could be a Harry Potter character.

Top Gun worked out pretty well

Sure, but Maverick wasn't a hold over from the 60's. The very things which make James Bond cool are the very masculine things the movie industry is running away form and activists won't stop bitching about.

I'm not saying I like it obviously, but I'd rather Bond be moth balled than fricking neutered or changed into something he's not to appease modern audiences whose only connection to the character afterwards will be in name only.

No, they don't.

They shouldn't, but you know damn well they will. They already have, and Barbara Broccoli has said as much moving forward. Once you take away this kind of stuff, Bond just becomes a typical spy which has been done better more recently by Tom Cruise in the MI movies.

And I doubt you hate to say it.

I'd rather they moth ball the character than ruin ANOTHER one at the alter of modern audiences. But the mileage of others may vary. May one day, when this generation grows up and their balls drop and they can handle a character like the actual Bond again, they can dust him off. Until then, we'll get what we've gotten the last few years...a character in name only because it's easier to try and sell a movie when people have heard of the character even if what you ultimately do it bait and switch them.

At this point I'm convinced the entertainment industry can't create anything. They can only destroy.

I’ll say it again.

Offer Henry Cavill whatever he wants
Set the movies in the late 60s.
Print the money.

This is what everyone should be saying, but they see a person of color and feel the need to go off about how “modern”(aka not whitewashed) things are.

How did the Broccolis get the rights to Bond? I know they've had them forever.

Her dad and Albert Saltzman bought the rights way back before Dr. No. Saltzman sold out in the 70s.

Canadian Herschel "Harry" Saltzman was Albert Broccoli's partner.

Broccoli has some interesting connections. American-born of Napoli ancestry, he was cousins to Pat Diccio (one of Gloria Vanderbilt's husbands), once "The Glamour Boy of Hollywood" with alleged ties to Luciano. Diccio allegedly beat Vanderbilt during the marriage and the gossip around town was that he beat Ted Healy (the dude who discovered the Three Stooges) to death, although the autopsy didn't support that.

This.

It's nothing but a cash grab at this point. If you aren't going to stay true to the character then there's no point in making the films anymore.

actor who’s shown their acting chops in movies but is still fairly unknown to the public.

So my ole lady and I have an agreement. I watch her shows and she watches mine. Unfortunately that means I have to watch Emily in Paris. It's terrible. This actor isn't bad, but based upon what I have seen in this show he has not shown me anything that has made me want to see him in other media. If they are going with a person of color I'd prefer Rege-Jean Page of Bridgerton fame. But I'd prefer Henry Cavill, Idris Elba or Richard Madden.
