It sucks for a host of reasons that have been stated by many.

He’s comparing it to movies on different streaming platforms. Not a great comparative model

No? What would be a better metric?
Both streaming services.
Both for the same number of days initially
Both services share the same rough numbers in subscribers.

Guess that 90% audience score on RT is fake right
How many fans buy tickets through Fandango?

I feel the total opposite. Makes me trust it a lot more.

It has really allowed RT to bend the numbers. Only people who buy tickets through their proprietary system, that they work for, can decide if a movie is good.
You don't think that colors the numbers a little different? Do you think people that only buy tickets through Fandango are an accurate cross section of the moviegoing public? I mean, they are excluding almost all moviegoers.
If that is all on the up and up with you, hey. . .live your bliss.
I am not saying it is bad at all, just vastly less unreliable than the previous system.
"Review Bombing" was largely a myth to account for large discrepancies between audience scores and critic scores.
All the movies and shows they accused of being "review bombed", in order to justify the change, were all bad movies. In fact, for the life of me, I can't think of an allegedly "review bombed" movie that turned out to be worth a shite.

Actually, that is a pretty good topic for discussion. . .Are there any alleged "review bombed" movies that ended up pretty good?

Nothing is perfect, but a system that only allows people who actually purchased a movie ticket is better imo than one open to trolls that have not and will not watch the movie they're review bombing.

Who knows what to believe. But Streaming is based on different metrics than normal ratings.
.
Seems like for HBO streaming it did pretty well.
IMDB news
Speaking of Black Adam..

Superman has achieved strong streaming ratings on HBO Max, drawing 13 million global viewers in its first 10 days and becoming the platform's biggest movie debut in nearly two years, since Barbie.

Speaking of Black Adam..

Black Adam is widely considered a box office flop because its box office gross did not meet its very high production and marketing costs, despite the movie earning a modest profit in other revenue streams like PVOD. The film's high budget ($190-260 million) combined with marketing expenses meant it needed to gross around $600 million just to break even, a threshold it failed to reach with its total worldwide gross of just over $390 million.

No. It's just an excuse. Just like calling people names or slurs instead of engaging in debate

So give us the exact net total for Superman. TIA
Superman grossed $615.8 million worldwide,
40% to 50% of which the theaters get to keep
quote:
Week 1 - 2: 30 - 50 percent goes to the theater, the rest to the studio
Week 3 - 5: 40 - 60 percent goes to the theater
Week 5 - 8: 60 - 80 percent goes to the theater
Lets be generous and say 40% goes to the theater. Thats $369,480,000 to the studio. This film cost $225 million and another $125 million to market globally. That comes to about $350M to make
My rudimentary math says close to break even or only about $19M net

I really don't care if I personally thought a film was one of the worst ever created. If you review it negatively or positively without watching it, your opinion doesn't matter and it destroys the review credibility.

I think it was reported that the theatres got 51% with Superman

Why are you giving me a guess? You said this info was available. Give me exact totals. Why is this so hard for all you insiders?

First off that's an extremely subjective take based entirely on if you liked the movie. But the change happened after the review bombing of Captain Marvel that was hit with a bunch of bad reviews before the movie was even released.
The movie itself was alright just your middle of the road MCU movie with a forgettable villain.

Just saying it sucks isn't a reason
Posted on 10/19/25 at 7:16 pm to dawgfan24348
I didn’t juuust say it sucks. I said it sucks for a host a reasons.
And it wasn’t because of any race or gender swap character, or wokeness. It’s simply that Gunn can’t write Superman.
But then this is the same universe where Peacemaker is having bisexual orgies? And casually talking about blowing dudes? You open up your universe with a family friendly Superman story involving a cute puppy Krypto and then follow it up with nudity & group sex?
There’s a reason why James Gunn was let go for Marvel.

He lies about everything. You can’t have a discussion with people who refuse to acknowledge reality.
