I hope I'm wrong but I think the finale is going to be a letdown. It just seems like there are a bunch of loose ends that won't be tied up.

Also looking back at some of the story lines and charachters the writers created were unnecessay and will cause questions that won't be addressed. The way they killed Whidmore and Richard (if he is dead) just seems like a letdown.

I guess I'll just have to wait till Sunday.

I have a hard time going with the island being destroyed, when so much has been made lately of protecting the "light". Would destroying the island be protecting the light that must not be allowed to go out?

yeah but maybe jacob by guarding the light was just entering the code and pushing the button.

maybe nothing happens if the island is destroyed...even though something did happen when they stopped pushing the button. but i don't know maybe desmond's the failsafe again?

Island Character count (separated by groups):

1. Jack
2. Sawyer
3. Hurley
4. Kate
--------------
5. Locke
6. Ben
7. Claire
--------------
8. Miles
--------------
9. Desmond
--------------
10. Rose
11. Bernard
--------------
12. Cindy, the kids, etc.

Did I miss any?

I gotta think there is more to it than that. Knotty mommy hair was protecting it before then and there are inevitably others who come along and try to take it (barbarians, dharma, etc.), by which they can make it go out. Therefore it is suggested that it needs protecting from more than just MIB.

Protecting it from humans as well. But it seemed to me like the main thing to protect the island/light from is MIB, because the whole point is that if MIB finds/gets to the light, then he will leave the island and the world will end. At least that's how it came off to me.

Jacob, as protector of the island, has special powers/attributes that allow him to communicate with, interact with, and influence people on and off the island. And he can do that whether or not he's "dead" or "alive

ah, but that is my point Cokes. It ain't really Dead if being "dead" causes no material difference in what the character is able to do and achieve. This is a writing problem

Jacob told Widmore everything he needed to know. I have a feeling that Widmore saw most of that coming. I mean, why the hell was Zoey looking for pots and pans when the world is about to end??!?

Anyways, there is a reason the writers had Widmore whisper to MIB and Ben kill him. Would've been much harder to trick MIB if Widmore had to hang around and be convincing. Additionally, he probably didn't want Ben to hear as he knew Ben might call him out as a liar.

Another theory, but doubt it'll happen: I doubt Ben wants MIB to destroy the island and he'll probably do whats necessary to prevent that. Is it possible MIB is pulling a long-con to get Ben to kill him (similar to him killing Momma and her saying "thankyou")?

Where the hell did he run off to? I thought he was supposed to be with Widmore.

I didn't understand that either. I missed where Widmore was going to the closet and thought they were all running. But Miles got the hell outta there in a hurry.

He may have saved Desmond. Or he may bite the bullet before seeing anymore of the Losties.

There is a difference. If you're dead, then MIB can manipulate others using your likeness. If you're dead, then you can communicate with Hurley in sight/sound, and Miles in sound, but no one else.

There is a difference. A pretty distinct difference.

"In the woods" was what he said right before he ran out of the house when MIB was coming.

MIB can't change his form now that Jacob is "dead" according to the story.

Also, Jacob directly communicated and was seen by Jack, Sawyer, and Kate last night. Not just miles and Hurley.

Again, they can call it "dead" if they want but its not different than being alive.

I've gotta believe that Miles is still alive for a reason. He must have a continued purpose...maybe using his special abilities to hear some more dead people...maybe he finds out some game-changing knowledge and he needs to communicate that to Jack or Desmond before it is too late.

yeah probably. But I doubt he makes it to the second half of the finale. Miles is the only character left introduced after season 2 I think.
