that was one of it not the most straightforward episode ever. But I would expect it - we're near the end, there isnt much time to open any new doors
I predicted it would be a filler episode and that is frankly what it was.
this was not a very good episode by Lost standards. the conversation between Jack and Locke was just wooden exposition. The producers should have just stepped out of the woods and looked into the camera and said, hey fans, if you guessed that Jack's Dead Dad on the island was really the smoke monster, you were correct!
Some of Sawyer's lines were just terrible. "Sayid is a Zombie and Claire lost her ticket when she tried to kill freckles". not the best writing.
This was just filling space until next week. Next episode will be a ton of action and will have the biggest cliff hanger ever because it will be two more weeks before the action on island picks up again.

pay no attention to the ryno

I'm stupid because I thought it was a filler episode with shaky writing? Clearly I'm not alone in that assessment. This was one of the lowest rated episodes of the season.

you do realize that when they rate the episodes they may not have actually seen the entire episode... they may have seen clips, read a part of the script...
they rate what they see.
happily ever after got low ratings and i assume because the people only saw a clip or only read a part of the script... they may not even know the context of the material they were subjected to...

Look, i'm basing this off my personal opinion. It wasn't a great episode compared to others this season. Just pieces moving around the board getting in position for "the candidate" which I believe will have tons of action and probably a huge cliff hanger of some kind.

i thought this episode was very good.
sorry you didnt like it... i think when you rewatch all the episodes in a row after the complete set is out, you will realize how good this episode is... its one of those diamonds in the rough. i think greatest hits is one of the best episodes ever, but if you look at it, its just pieces moving into place for the season 3 finale

Ryno is kidna right but i think this episode kinda is the connecting point from one big part of the plot to the next big part of the plot its kinda like a transition episode i guess you could say
one thing i really liked about this episode is they answered alot of questions from past seasons and this season to, like why did jack see his father on the island, and richard see his wife or lover or what ever. These answers make me want to support the jacob side of the story more mainly because the show proves again and again that MIB is a deceiver and he believes that ever man can be tricked into doing things. Just like jacob said to richard

no problem. Every episode can't be the best. there are episodes in every season that just aren't that good. some have terrible writing. The producers will tell you that when you have to fill up 24 hours of Tv over the course of a season there is going to be filler. I'm not slamming Lost. I'm hooked on Lost. I've worked my way up to the season 3 finale and I have watched all of season 6 so far. I will have completed season 4-5 before the finale and the circle will be complete or sumsuch.
Just don't call people stupid because they have an opinion that a certain episode wasn't as good.

A few thoughts about the episode:
1. Claire and Sayid both show glimpses of still being human. Maybe the darkness is not complete. Unfortunate in my opinion, as I really don't want all of the Losties to end up as good guys.
2. MIB had to tell Sayid to kill Desmond rather than doing it himself. I've said that I think Desmond is a candidate, and this gives a little confirmation.

I'm betting when MetaCritic posts the critical reviews later today it will be in the mid to high 80's, which would put it in the top tier of this season's episodes. The ratings on darkUFO (which are based on scripts only) have been inconsistent at best.

There have been a lot of references to Claire and Sayid being infected with the darkness and that they may be showing signs of not being completely lost. However, there has never really been any clear indication that Claire was "infected" like Sayid except for what the Others said about her. I just wonder if she isn't bat-shite crazy or just plain gullible like Locke was (according to MIB).
The whole story-line surrounding Claire -- step-sister to Jack, disappearance with MIB but not her death, Aaron and her warning to Kate not to bring him back -- is the most confusing part of Lost to me. I'm sure the writers will attempt to make it relevant somehow, but I suspect that the answer will not meet my expectations.

Another confusing thing about Claire is that she previously said to either Jin or Sawyer that she hasn't been alone, that she has spent time with her friend (MIB) and her dad, as though she thought they were two different people.
Last night, she acted as though she knew MIB was posing as her dad.

so, we presume (probably mistakenly) that since Jacob is getting a replacement, that MIB will be too.
Why would we even presume this? We have only been led to believe that a candidate will take Jacob's role. Why would we need a replacement for MIB? Either he stays on the island and no replacement is needed or he gets off the island and no replacement is needed for him or Jacob.

I don't think anyone has any issue with you stating your theory. I'm curious to find out if you are right. The issue came when you started acting as though your theory has been proven correct, when in fact, it has not.

Was anybody kind of bummed out after the MIB called out Locke as being stupid for thinking there was a purpose?
Posted on 4/21/10 at 10:11 am to Cdawg
I wasn't bummed. the MIB is lying. Locke was right. There was a purpose. He is trying to convince Jack and the other losties that there is no purpose so they will just want to leave the island and let him leave too.
