The evidence in tonight's episode suggests the island is real and the sideverse is purgatory.
When island-Desmond tells Jack that it doesn't matter what he does with the light because one day he can take Jack to the great sideverse where everyone lives happily ever after, Jack tells him there aren't any do-overs. What happened, happened. All of this, here, matters.
This is supported by Christian when he says everything that happened on the island was real and that it was important.
That said, I'm not sure how Michael floating around whispering on the island, "trapped" if you will, fits in to the purgatory thing.
And the plane crash at the end could have been one last look. Or a big attempt at a internet mindfrick. Whatever.
The best explanation is, Island = real, Sideverse = purgatory.
I'm not going to say you can't argue otherwise, but I can stick with this interpretation and be comfortable that it fits with most everything the show was.

I didn't like the ending. Still too many question. If Jack died on the island, why show the wreckage at the end ? I would have rathered a reset. Now we don't know what kind of life Kate and Sawyer had.

Excuse me but once she regained her full memory she was supposed to let things go and Aaron would have been one of those things.
Aaron would actually be at the church with his loved ones.
That is either a serious plot hole or as some on her speculate proof they died with Aaron still in her womb.
I think it was just a red herring to try and get the debate that is actually going on in this thread. They simply stuck a few things into the finale to try and get a fade to black Sopranos ending.

She was already in her instance of death. Recall how she asked if he wanted to go get some coffee. She was seeing her moment with Sawyer in the afterlife. What we see in the finale is that buildup and culmination of the moment Juliet saw in the premier at her death.

And here's one part of the finale I haven't seen mentioned once, and for me it was undoubtably the single best moment of the finale: Jack and Christian getting closure. That scene may be the most moving scene in the entire series. Just brilliant.

I'm all up for criticism if its rational, but people have bitched for 15 pages about the last shot being the crash site. I mean really? Yeah thats unjustified. Its not like "Across the Sea" where there have been good arguments for why that episode sucked. People who had a positive outlook before this episode liked this episode, while people who were pessimistic hated it. If the finale was good, this was how it would turn out with the fans.

Either view is has a plothole in the church scene, either the island is real and the babies are plotholes, or they all died in the crash and people not on the plane being in the church are plotholes too

I see aaron being a bigger plot hole. Jin and Sun's baby grew up with a different mother and never even knew Jin. Not sure why she would go with them.

We have debated not bitched and it is a KEY HUGE issue because it changes the whole meaning.
You guys haven't given me one single PLAUSIBLE explanation for Aaron being a baby.
Christian clearly stated Jack needed to LET GO, so Claire should not have had Aaron with her as a child unless he DIED as a baby.
Sun and Jin had no baby which could be explained if they died in the crash.
I am not stating they died in the crash, but those two things are hard to explain and you guys haven't come up with good reasons for either.
Add the wreckage to those two, and now you have 3 things that could point to them dying in the crash.
Once again, I do not believe that is what happened but I think they stuck them there on purpose to get this exact debate raging similar to the fade to black sopranos.
So once again, it is not bitching. You are the one bitching because we won't just praise the show as inspired by...
