absolute biggest fail of the whole 2.5 hours. In the end it looks a hell of a lot like MIB was right. There was no point to any of it.
what were they protecting it from before there was an MIB?
come on people.

You people seem to be focusing on the word tribute. Please explain how showing wreckage that should no longer exist, a tribute.
I don't see how you can't see they were tying to create a shite storm with that similar to fade to black sopranos.

Smokie was the only one directly tied to the light. Therefore, when the light went out HE was mortal. Once he was killed, the light had to be reignited before all life was extinguished. Jack did this saved his friends. He was "pierced in his side" for a reason.
again
you're explaining the island essentially by saying it is the island. but i'll go along with your explanations
what the frick is the "light"

I admit I liked the episode. But that final scene during the credits really got to me. Without that, I would be happier. With it, I'm just mad. It was an obvious "F-You."
I still think you guys are reading to much into this. The pilot of this show was I believe the most expensive episode of television ever at the time and it sucked a lot of people in. They went full circle with Jack closing his eye. LOST flashed. Show over.

Locke saying "JACK YOU DON"T HAVE A SON" is more proof that the island was real.
Not really. If he died on the plane, he wouldn't have had a son either. Pretty flawed logic with that statement.

I just also get them NOT explaining it.
the only reason they can't is because they changed the entire show to avoid purgatory
which was interesting, b/c i was curious how they'd end it without it being purgatory
but...it ended as purgatory

All we needed to know was that it WAS
well when you're not sure if people are alive or dead, and whether it was purgatory, or a step to purgatory, etc, it is important to know what it is

I don't understand why so many people are willing to be content with the flash sideways explanation. It made everything else that happened in this season in that arch completely pointless. Any kind of emotion or interest that you invested in the characters in this alternate timeline were for nothing. None of it was real.
If they had explained the flash sideways as all being a dream, people would have been pissed.

They were "forced" to fill a role. They became unnecessary as the show ended. What they "did" could have been handled more effectively and efficiently without them.
i don't see how.

It seems like it would fit in some sort of a "prequel".
you know there is this show lost
early on, it had this great concept of showing backstories
maybe they should have tried to mimic this show

Yes, because all of you haven't been doing exactly that for 6 seasons.

Er.... did Sayid really deserve to move on? Of the island was real, he was even more cold blooded on the Island than when he worked for the guard.
Well he did redeem himself slightly toward the end, but if Ben is afraid to move on, Sayid should be terrified as well.

Exactly. Its a show. They said "You need to protect this or bad shite happens".
Got it. Now lets watch the characters interact and how they deal with protecting the island. It DOESNT MATTER how/why the island has some light that is the the "spark of life". It just matters that it IS, and what happens next.

If the island was purgatory, then purgatory and whatever God runs it is really unnecessarily complicated.
I mean what type of purgatory needs Time travel to test the people there???

exactly
to get emotions, they had to steal the emotions from the early part of the show (when it was good)
it was a ruse

it was the island that caused these people who were missing something in life to find each other and live out such a pivotal moment in their lives.
the characters all had strained relationships outside of the show as well for most of them the others on the island really were the best things they ever had
